Behind the Lens: Potential Key Players in Con Job’s Production

The documentary Con Job: United States vs. Raniere, produced by a person or persons unknown, is not available for public viewing.

All we have is a trailer with almost 50,000 views in eight days on YouTube – although that may not reflect the authentic number of viewers who have seen the five-minute trailer.

Promotions for the movie claim it is “coming soon.”

FR revealed a few details about the documentary, and a website,, which supports federal prisoner Keith Raniere’s legal arguments that the FBI tampered with evidence to “frame an innocent man” – namely, he.

Raniere, the founder of NXIVM, was convicted in June 2019 on multiple charges, including sex trafficking and racketeering, with predicate acts of possession of child pornography and sexual exploitation of a child and sentenced to 120 years in prison in October 2020.

Keith Raniere in late 2017- early 2018, taken by a New York Times photographer for a story that did not appear until after his arrest in March 2018….

In most places, to most minds, the words “con job” and “Raniere” together would prompt the suggestion that the conman is he.

But in this anonymously-promoted film, the government does the con job, and Raniere is the victim.

Despite the respectable 50,000 YouTube views, only one comment – mine – and two likes.

With a controversial topic like Raniere, it seems unlikely that so few would comment.

The 50,000 views are almost certainly the result of advertising.

It appears someone bought YouTube ads for the Con Job movie. The trailer reportedly appears as an advertisement on various unrelated YouTube videos.

YouTube often shows five or more seconds of an ad on popular videos before granting the viewer the option of skipping the ad. He can then watch the video he wished to see or continue watching the advertisement.

A source familiar with YouTube said that YouTube may count even those who watch only five seconds as viewers contributing, in Con Job’s case, the 50,000 number.

It is also possible to buy views for YouTube videos, and online packages start for as little as $7.99 per 1000 views.

It is reasonable to believe that if the Con Job trailer were widely known, people, even those unfamiliar with Raniere, might find it interesting.

The producers present credible people, arguing that the FBI tampered with digital evidence.

These include four retired FBI agents and/or FBI forensic examiners, a former US Attorney, a state judge, a Harvard professor, and constitutional lawyer Alan Dershowitz.

It is no secret that Raniere supporters paid these experts, mainly his chief financial supporter, Clare Bronfman.

Paying experts is not unusual. That’s how they make their living.

The onus is on the intelligent person to factor that in as part of their analysis.

Low Budget, High Stakes

The production quality of the Con Job movie is relatively low budget, based on the trailer.

The producers used stock footage, and the trailer featured only one new interview – of Raniere’s most recent attorney, Arthur Aidalia.

The editor took prior interviews and archival footage and used them in the trailer.

The experts’ appearances came from videos already available to the public during the campaign to promote Raniere’s FBI tampering narrative.

Based on the trailer and having a little experience in making documentaries, the cost of Con Job to produce is between $15,000 – $25,000.

Raniere Supporters Burned by Film Scammer

However, the producer may have paid much more.

Not long ago, supporters of Raniere paid film scam artist Dave Williams $500,000 to make a documentary and he produced nothing.

His scam, however, or rather the way he used the ill-gotten money, sent him back to federal prison for a violation of his probation.

Williams, who can charm the corn right out of the husk, and money right out of the wallets of would be film investors, preferred to sail on yachts, and live the glamorous lifestyle that bigtime producers might live, without bothering to make the film, which would only cut into his profits and take a lot of time too.

Creative Talent and Financing Source?

A person behind the film’s financing might be Clare Bronfman, an heiress, former equestrian, and COO of NXIVM.

She is the daughter of the late Edgar Bronfman Sr., the former chairman of the Seagram Company Ltd., a Canadian distillery corporation. Her sister, Sara Bronfman, was also a leader of NXIVM.

Sara and Clare Bronfman…

In April 2018, Clare pleaded guilty to two federal charges related to her involvement with NXIVM, harboring illegal aliens for financial gain and fraudulent use of identification.

She was sentenced in September 2020 to 81 months in prison, along with a $500,000 fine, $96,605 in restitution to one of her victims, and a six million dollar payment in lieu of forfeiture to US the federal government, of which around $3.4 million went to Raniere’s victims as restitution.

Suneel Chakravorty

The creative talent behind Con Job may be Suneel Chakravorty. He is familiar with the tampering topic, is well-versed in computer science, and has skills in film editing.

He is also Raniere’s power of attorney.

  • Despite using stock footage, the trailer is well edited, quick paced and professionally executed as leads the viewer along.

However, I’m doubtful it will impact the judge and key decision makers. People have made up their minds to punish Raniere heavily whether evidence was manipulated by the FBI or not. Sexual deviations such as having sex with a consenting 15 year old are heavily punished in our society. Raniere was sentenced to more years than a double murderer as a message to reinforce male power, patriarchy and christian morality over society.

  • I won’t even watch the free YouTube Conjob BS.

Nor will I pay a penny to watch the shitshow propaganda which is to try to con us that Raniere is innocent of his crimes.

This BS will soon be decided by the court system and we who know Raniere is GULITY can’t wait for this to be OVER.

Raniere’s new lawyer let the cat out of the bag regarding Raniere’s SHU situation in his court filing when he asked for an extension.

He said connection with his client was more difficult and he needed extra time.

That statement alone kinda says Raniere is still in the SHU and meetings with his legal counselor are more difficult.

Tully, Raniere’s many ex-lawyer, chould have given Raniere’s nee lawyer a well informed handoff information this case. He spent enough time in the public talking about it.

If not, rocker man Suneel Chakravorty who made up this idea with Raniere could surely bring Clare Bronfman civil lawsuit attorney now Raniere’s new criminal attorney up to speed.

This sharing of attorney’s seems to spells “out of legal defense funds” and Clare’s money monitors are not allowing her to write Raniere anymore big checks.

If ture, it’s about time someone stops Clare bank rolling Raniere expensive defense of losing one motion after another of his criminal and civil cases.

Raniere has been one bad investment after another for the Bronfman sisters.

Clare Bronfman sits in prison, a convicted criminal because of Raniere’s influence over her.

  • Suneel made valid points regarding conduct of the FBI. Regardless of Raniere’s guilt, the FBI violated chains of custody and evidence was missing for days at a time.

There are no standards for out state and federal governments.

They are not by ir for the people.

The fbi and govt takes down who they want.
    No evidence required.

Steve Pigeon has a child claim rape with zero evidence years after it occurred. As a result of a grand jury only – his life and reputation is taken.

On the other hand you have Ambrose with three kids making claims of abuse for years. And have evidence of it- Ambrose wax found to be a high risk abuser by the court and kids removed after sexual forensic interviews- but corrupt CT protects Ambrose and now tries to jail the mother and force kids to flee the state.

Zero Justice. It’s all power and money.

  • I have a great idea!
Frank, put up a crowd funder or a go fund me, and why don’t you make another documentary about Raniere? For posterity. And concentrate on those, the Suneels, Edourdo’s Michele’s and the ugly doctor who branded them can’t remember her name,Claire of course, all the ones who are determined to set him free. We can learn about their early lives, their inability to move on from a few years of belonging to a sex cult. Where they were at their peak as human beings in the luminous presence of a special unique square footed short man and his 7 and a half inch erect (measured) penis.
It might help the families of these deluded brainwashed people extricate their loved ones at last from Planet Ranieri’s orbit.
Except Suneel of course. He can stay there, he has no life except the love of his life, Square foot. They can probably get married, that’s legal now, get conjugal visits.

    • Tenzin,

      I love the idea.

Even more fun, would be a comedy movie about the NXIVM ethos.

      Potential cast:

Rowan Atkinson as Keith “Squarefoot” Raniere AKA el Vanturdo
      Steve Buscemi as Suneel “Asswiper”Chakravorti
Danny Trejo as Hector “Father of the Year” Fernandez
Rainn Wilson as Mark “Cult Hopper” Vicente
Ali Wong as Allison “Pimp” Mack
Jack Black as Damon “Husband of the Decade” Brink

      Any other suggestions?

      • If the story about Raniere and NXIVM and DOS didn’t actually exist, the whole story about it could be considered a made-up, farcical comedy, because it would all be considered exaggerated, ridiculous, and unbelievable.

  • for this blockbuster (in Keith’s mind it’s a blockbuster so giving the poor sap that little win)

What folks probably ARE clamoring about is how much Kevin Costner has to pay in child support AND what’s going on with the Rhirodan Teens?

I don’t see Kevin Costner trying to completely destroy his ex wife. He’s already gladly paid her the lump sum of what was legally hers (he didn’t STEAL from her), paid her attorneys and accountant fees (rather than burying her in L&P billings), is sharing custody (like good grown ups do) and thinks her 40k/mo rental is ‘lovely’ (doesn’t begrudge her having a place to live).

Exactly the opposite of how Chris Ambrose shamefully behaved.

What joy has Ambrose visited on his family with today’s hearing ?

      • signs of the times

When the Bible details the circumstances of Jesus Christ’s second coming, it doesn’t describe anywhere that He will exist again on earth by starting a closed-knit group. Indeed, the Bible says that during His Second Coming, “every eye will see Him” (Revelation 1:7). The Bible also suggests that Jesus will not be walking around on earth after His return, but rather that “then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven . . . And He will send His angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather His elect from the four winds” (Matthew 24: 30,31).

The Bible goes further to say that anyone who claims to be Jesus Christ before that time is looking to deceive people. “At that time if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah! or, ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.” (Matthew 24:23,24).

      • The apostle Paul: “Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness” (2 Corinthians 11:14, 15)

      • Not only will Jesus’ return be seen by everyone in the world, but He will be heard as well. The apostle Paul described it this way: “For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God” (1 Thessalonians 4:16).

  • The movie Con Job, is in itself, a con job…

The producer(s) lead us to believe this is something new, some revealing, something with never seen content. However, it is the same stale, Dead-ender horseshit we have been seeing for years. Its internet-ready stock footage they bought and spliced in, mixed in with some “interviews” with Bronfman paid hacks.

About the Author

Frank Parlato is an investigative journalist.

His work has been cited in hundreds of news outlets, like The New York Times, The Daily Mail, VICE News, CBS News, Fox News, New York Post, New York Daily News, Oxygen, Rolling Stone, People Magazine, The Sun, The Times of London, CBS Inside Edition, among many others in all five continents.

His work to expose and take down NXIVM is featured in books like “Captive” by Catherine Oxenberg, “Scarred” by Sarah Edmonson, “The Program” by Toni Natalie, and “NXIVM. La Secta Que Sedujo al Poder en México” by Juan Alberto Vasquez.

Parlato has been prominently featured on HBO’s docuseries “The Vow” and was the lead investigator and coordinating producer for Investigation Discovery’s “The Lost Women of NXIVM.” Parlato was also credited in the Starz docuseries "Seduced" for saving 'slave' women from being branded and escaping the sex-slave cult known as DOS.

Additionally, Parlato’s coverage of the group OneTaste, starting in 2018, helped spark an FBI investigation, which led to indictments of two of its leaders in 2023.

Parlato appeared on the Nancy Grace Show, Beyond the Headlines with Gretchen Carlson, Dr. Oz, American Greed, Dateline NBC, and NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt, where Parlato conducted the first-ever interview with Keith Raniere after his arrest. This was ironic, as many credit Parlato as one of the primary architects of his arrest and the cratering of the cult he founded.

Parlato is a consulting producer and appears in TNT's The Heiress and the Sex Cult, which premiered on May 22, 2022. Most recently, he consulted and appeared on Tubi's "Branded and Brainwashed: Inside NXIVM," which aired January, 2023.
