Sultan of Six, Kristin Kreuk, and the Crush That Outlived NXIVM
The Man Who Loved Kristin Kreuk From a Distance: Sultan of Six's Lost Letter to Frank Report

From the Vault: Sultan of Six Is Upset — A 2022 Letter From Kristin Kreuk's Most Devoted Defender
For those who remember when the NXIVM story was still unfolding, and the same names met each other every day in the comments to argue, accuse, defend, and return the next morning, I found an artifact from another age.
November 13, 2022. Sultan of Six has entered the building, and he is not pleased. With me. With the commenters.
He had been around long enough to take such things personally.
The people who were there will remember him. The newer readers deserve an introduction.
METHUSELAH OF SIX
Sultan of Six may be the Methuselah of NXIVM commenters. He was posting on John Tighe's Saratoga in Decline before Frank Report existed, back in 2011 or earlier. Back then, he went by VanDouche and Darth VanDouche.
Eventually, he became Sultan of Six. And that was the name that stayed.

Sultan's great cause has always been Kristin Kreuk. He has defended her for years, with the stamina of a man who apparently signed a lifetime contract nobody else got to see.
Kreuk belonged to NXIVM, was recruited and, in turn, recruited for it, and wisely left before the arrests.
Every long-running internet community eventually develops a person who adopts one question and refuses to let it die. Sultan found his.
Again and again, Sultan returned to Kristin Kreuk.
If Kristin Kreuk ever loses her legal team, publicist, security detail, emergency contacts, or even her beauty, Sultan is still on duty.
THE TIMES UNION

In 2012, James Odato at the Albany Times Union started pulling back the curtain on NXIVM and its Vanguard, Keith Raniere.
The series reported on Raniere's interest in underage girls and identified Kristin Kreuk as a member.
Some readers thought, okay, that's the moment. Your name is in the paper next to Keith Raniere and allegations involving underage girls. Maybe that's when you find the exit.
She did not leave.

Sultan, to his credit, has never defended Raniere. He told Frank Report:
"Once that 2012 TU article by James Odato revealed who he was and the dominos of more critical articles after that began to fall, the gloves came off. Anyone who claims to be some moral exemplar via his own words or indirectly through others but engages in hypocritical behavior that contradicts it deserves all the scathing criticism he gets."
On Raniere, Sultan and most of civilization eventually found common ground.
The trouble came with Kreuk. Some readers thought Sultan's defense of her went past advocacy, past persistence, and past common sense.
There was warmth in it, and loyalty, and sometimes the kind of anger a person saves for someone close to the heart.
Maybe that is why people teased him so much. It is easier to make fun of devotion than to admit there is something touching about it.
THE DIAGNOSIS

Dr. Edwin Maxwell told Frank Report that Sultan's devotion to Kreuk went beyond fan adulation. He offered a diagnosis, based on Sultan's writings and on the fact that Sultan had never met Kreuk and, in all likelihood, she did not know he existed.
Dr. Maxwell wrote: "It appears Sultan has an acute epileptoid manifestation with pan phobic melancholiac with indication of a neurasthenia cordus."
This diagnosis by so worthy a psychiatrist prompted me to urge Sultan to give up his onanistic practices concerning a woman who would never reciprocate.
I encouraged him to find a real live woman, even if she was not as comely as the lovely Miss Kreuk.

I wrote: "Perhaps she has no teeth. But if her vision is poor enough, you could have a real relationship with a real live girl."
That set him off.
There were other provocations. A commenter suggested I was encouraging Sultan to go back to his "National Geographic country of origin."
Another commenter, in the manner of a Viennese analyst, said Sultan had "constructed Kristin's female sexuality."
I had written that while Kreuk recruited Allison Mack into NXIVM, she paid no penalty in guilt or grief for the destruction of her friend's life.
That may or may not be fair, but I wrote it.
Sultan answered all of it. He answered me. He answered the commenters. He answered the Sigmund Freud of the comment section.
He also predicted I would never publish it. He was wrong. It only took four years.
Here it is as he wrote it on November 13, 2022.
SULTAN OF SIX RESPONDS
Frank doesn't even know what I look like, so he's just shooting in the dark with his demeaning "vision is poor enough" comment.
But like I implied before, a person should look in the mirror first before they attempt to demean someone else's looks (if it should even be done at all), at least if they still have any sense of decorum.
A commenter wrote: So you, Frank, are tacitly encouraging Sultan to move back to his National Geographic country of origin.
Way to show complete ignorance of the demographics of the region of the world my parents are from. I was born and raised in the USA.
There are plenty of beautiful South Asian women – my brother married one of them, and so did both of his brother-in-laws. That region of the world has produced multiple Miss World and Miss Universe winners.
A commenter wrote: The issue is Sultan has constructed Kristin's female sexuality, and in so doing has annihilated the chance for him finding sexual intelligence in her.
OK, Sigmund Freud.
WTF does "constructed female sexuality" even mean? LMAO. Sounds like Raniere word salad. I haven't "constructed" anything.
As a heterosexual male, I am attracted to beautiful women. There is nothing more to it than the teleological "nature of things".
Kristin's looks, her eyes, and her booty are attractive to me. But so is her intelligence, career ability, the financial independence she has created from it, and character.

And how many times are you going to repeat the phrase "doesn't know he even exists" or its equivalent in every comment you make concerning me with Kristin in it?
Repeating something incessantly doesn't make it true.

Frank wrote: While Kristin Kreuk recruited Allison Mack she paid no penalty in guilt or grief for the destruction of her friend's life.
How would you know? Did she speak to you about it? Far more people were involved in destroying Allison's life than Kristin, including first and foremost, Allison herself.

Kristin did reach out, but like all people who try to extricate someone who is deeply entrenched in a cult based on only a past friendship that has lost its power of time due to cultic influence, there was nothing she could do.
Allison was a lost cause, under the "spell" of Raniere until he was arrested and she too was also threatened with at least twenty years in prison. Sometimes it takes such a "train to hit" for reality to set in. Then there are others like Squeaky Fromme who still supported their "hero" even while they languished in jail.
The fact that you always display such positive words towards some, giving them some undeserved benefit of the doubt, who still outspokenly supports a grooming, statutory rapist, child pornographer, extortionist, racketeering criminal, and are always chastising Kristin Kreuk years after she ignored you for what amounts to nothing in the grand scheme of things after she left this garbage cult almost a decade ago makes you look like the insincere, biased prick that you are.
And I don't expect you to post this comment for those very reasons. Midget.

WHERE I STAND NOW, FOUR YEARS LATER

Sultan has been part of this story for a very long time. He deserves an updated answer.
Keith Raniere put me in a death fight. It was him or me. He weaponized the justice system, and he sent Clare Bronfman and her millions after me. To survive, I had to take him down. And unfortunately, Clare too.
There was no third option.
Raniere survived as long as he did because people kept lending him legitimacy, and Kreuk had more legitimacy to lend than most.
She was famous.
The Times Union had already told the world what kind of man he was.
Then came my branding stories in June 2017, then the New York Times that October, and, in March 2018, the arrest.
One sentence from her — “I left, and this guy is rotten” — would have mattered. Instead: silence.
She disappeared behind the curtain.

Perhaps silence seemed safest. Silence often does.
That's okay. Maybe it helped her career. I hope she does well. I hope Allison Mack does well, too. I've come to think Allison was a victim in this. Maybe Kreuk was as well.
Victim, enabler, follower — sometimes the same person is all three.
NXIVM'S FORGOTTEN CASUALTY

But now we come to NXIVM's forgotten casualty: Sultan of Six, patron saint of the hopeless internet crush.
He suffered from an affliction NXIVM did not invent: loving someone who had no idea you existed.
Love with nowhere to go.
Unrequited love is a hard thing, and Sultan had one of the hardest cases on record. He never had a ghost of a chance. I hope he got over her. I hope he went out and found a real live girl — maybe one with teeth — who could make him forget Kristin for a little while.
There is something sad in loving someone from so far away that she cannot possibly love you back. I hope Sultan found someone close enough to see him, laugh with him, talk with him, and choose him.
I hope he found somebody who at least knew his first name.
I say Sultan may be the greatest victim because he had his chance to be a hero, for a while, to his fantasy woman. This is where the whole thing becomes beautifully tragic.
Sultan wants to be the white knight. He rode into battle every day, lance out, defending a woman who may very well have been praying he would stop typing her name. In trying to rescue her reputation, he keeps the controversy alive. That's not romance. That's accidentally becoming your beloved's search-engine problem.
He kept saying her name because he wanted to defend her. She may only have wanted the world to stop saying her name at all in connection with NXIVM.

MY OWN CONFESSION
Of course, his comments were never important or meaningful. They were pure fun. And certain members of the comment section — Nice Guy, Nutjob, Bangkok, and others — are equally to blame, because in their sick way they loved how Sultan would respond.
Mention Kreuk, wait thirty seconds, and somewhere Sultan's keyboard would begin to smoke.
Sultan was dependable.
Yes, I was guilty too. One word: Kreuk. I knew how to provoke him and sometimes did it simply because I could. This is not one of the nobler forms of human behavior, but it is a common one.
Looking back, I suppose there was affection mixed into the mischief.
For readers who want more of the Sultan in his prime, see Sultan Lashes Out at Those Who Seek to Humiliate Kristin Kreuk, his running battle with Kreuk-Buster, the 2019 Twitter photos episode, and the guest columns for the defense — Leave Sultan of Six alone — and for the prosecution — Kristin Kreuk has a lot of explaining to do. And in fairness to the man, the day I wrote that Kreuk deserves the benefit of the doubt, he did not thank me.
Sultan, your response is more than welcome. The comment section is still open.
