Rep. Zoe Lofgren Highlights Big Tech Corruption In Washington D.C.

There is likely no single source of power that is more influential today than the control over the flow of information held by individuals who lead the largest tech companies in the world.

These companies have become household names in recent decades. Some examples include Alphabet (Google’s parent company), Meta (formerly known as Facebook), Amazon, Apple, and others.

Alphabet alone, who owns the Google search engine, oversees an astounding 8.5 billion unique searches per day, more than the entire population of our planet, which today stands at 8.1 billion.

Facebook and Instagram have a combined active user base of over 5 billion people. Amazon boasts over 310 million active users, while Apple holds a total value of over $2.82 trillion.

While there are extreme monetary benefits to the prospect of billions of active users utilizing your services, there is also tremendous capacity for treachery.

Due to their overwhelming dominance of the industry, companies like Alphabet, through the prominence of the search engine Google, have been able to accumulate a monopolistic dominance of the tech industry. Any competition, no matter how resolute, eventually succumbs to Alphabet’s consortium.

Google Utilizes ‘Self-Preferencing’ In Their Search Results

A large part of Google’s business plan, the same plan that has garnered such success, hinges on self-preferencing search engine results based on which companies pay them, or which agenda presented within the link fits the extreme left-wing politics of Silicon Valley.

Considering there are more Google searches per day than people on Earth, this self-preferencing technique can yield tremendous results for those seeking to advertise their products, or those seeking to control public narratives. The ‘information sword’ yielded by Google is perhaps the most powerful and influential weapon ever created.

In addition to controlling the results of 8.5 billion searches per day, Google also has access to the private data of over 1 billion people around the world. It is estimated that 1.8 billion people currently use Google’s email outfit ‘Gmail,’ which grants Google additional access to user’s intimate data, including internet search history, location, and communications.

The dominance exhibited by companies like Alphabet has not come strictly through their own success, but also through clear and established ties to government members.

One of those connections exists through the family of Democrat Congressmember Zoe Lofgren.

Representative Zoe Lofgren’s Family Connection To Big Tech

Lofgren’s daughter is a lawyer who works as an employee of Google’s legal team, tasked with giving counsel to the prolific company.

Representative Lofgren serves as a senior member of the House Judiciary Committee, which has been assigned with oversight of Big tech companies like Google, and to oversee antitrust policies.

In this powerful position, Lofgren has routinely obstructed anti-trust measures against Google, possibly highlighting the avenue by which tech companies have skirted punishment for their monopolistic practices to date.

In addition to serving as a senior member of the House Judiciary Committee, Representative Lofgren also serves as Chair of the California Congressional delegation, and is one of the big fund raisers. She received much of the many millions of dollars she gets in donations from Big Tech, which she spreads around to her fellow Democrats – but with a price: They have to support her Big Tech agenda.

Big Tech dollars have made her a powerful force which in turn gives her an iron grip on her fellow Democratic Congressional members in California and beyond. She can quash any meaningful antitrust legislation that would potentially harm the company that employs her daughter or donates so generously to her campaigns. Google is the single largest donor to Zoe Lofgren over her 29 years in Congress.

The conflict of interest represented by Lofgren’s presence on the House Judiciary Committee while Google employs her daughter is a flagrant example of Big Tech’s protective measures against antitrust laws, but it is not the only example.

There have always been efforts by those at the top of the business world to infiltrate Washington D.C., and to pave the way for their company’s total monopolistic control of any given industry.

But it is only through the corruption displayed by our elected officials that these efforts manifest into reality. Google, or Alphabet, is not alone. These same practices occur on behalf of Amazon, Apple, and other Big Tech companies, who have gained total dominance in the last decade.

Without serious antitrust legislation, companies like Alphabet and Amazon will only strengthen their position, ultimately leading to a further consolidation of American business.

Representative Lofgren, and her decades-long blocking of meaningful antitrust legislation against Big Tech companies, stand to diminish the freedoms that have made America the beacon of hope that millions look to, and seek out, to improve their lives.

When will Congress take action to examine the ties of those protecting Big Tech? Probably not until Zoe Lofgren is out of office.

Happily, Californians can help expedite that fortuitous outcome. For the first time in two decades, Lofgren faces a serious opponent, Charlene Nijmeh. The primary is March 5.
