Raniere’s New Lawyer Pushes for Release Before Halloween

July 3, 2024
Deborah Blum, Raniere's attorney.

Keith Raniere’s latest attorney, Deborah J. Blum, asked for and received an extension to September 5 to amend her client’s 2225 application, pending before US District Court Judge Nicholas Garaufis.

Once filed in September, the US Attoney will have at least ten days to respond, and following that, Raniere will get an opportunity to reply.

If the judge decides quickly after that, and decides to release the former Vanguard and ethicists of NXIVM, Raniere might be out of prison in mid-October and in time for preparations for Halloween and trick or treating.

Raniere has had a parade of attorneys since his conviction in 2019. Blum’s delay in filing the 2255 application was partly caused by difficulties conferring with Raniere, who is serving his sentence at the maximum security USP Tucson.

Judge Garaufis sentenced the NXIVM leader to 120 years in prison in 2020. He has been in custody for six years. With time off for good behavior, Raniere has 96 years to go, plus five years probation.

If he serves his full sentence, he will be 159. His release date is June 2120. Upon release, he will serve five years of probation.

A 2255 application allows prisoners to contest their sentences if they believe a significant legal error has occurred in their trial or at sentencing. If Judge Garaufis agrees, he can vacate, set aside, or correct the sentence. The success rate of 2255 applications is around 3%, but in Raniere’s case, it is around zero.

Blum’s letter describes her difficulties communicating with Raniere.

“In my limited communication with Mr. Raniere, it has become apparent that I will need to set up an in-person legal visit with him to finalize the submission.

During the one call that I had with Mr. Raniere, the call kept getting dropped and it is my understanding that this frequently occurs during his legal calls. Additionally, to my knowledge, Mr. Raniere has only been permitted four (4) in-person legal visits by USP Tuscon in the past nine (9) months.”

This tells me Raniere is still in the SHU, and the prison officials at USP Tucson are not letting him have many legal visits, and possibly listening in and monkeying with his legal phone calls.

Blum represents Raniere solely on his 2255 application.

Some of Raniere’s past attorneys include:

Methinks Deborah ought to consider higher necklines on her professional attire. The Court surely doesn’t appreciate her thinly-veiled efforts to showcase her blums.

In Greek mythology, the satyr Marsyas is a central figure in two stories involving music: in one, he picked up the double oboe (aulos) that had been abandoned by Athena and played it; in the other, he challenged Apollo to a contest of music and lost his hide and life.

The first part is part of Greek mythology. The second part is the more modern, modified version with Keith at the center.

Why did Apollo curse King Midas?
Then Apollo played his lyre (or harp) beautifully. When the music ended, Tmolus picked Apollo as the winner because he thought the sound of his lyre was the most heavenly thing he had ever heard. King Midas chose the satyr. Apollo became angry and turned Midas’s ears into those of a donkey as a sign of foolishness.

Why did God curse Keith Raniere?

There will be no release for Rainiere. Raniere is more likely to be transferred to another prison. That is the only thing that is possible, if at all. Otherwise, the Special Housing Unit will remain his only home. From which he can no longer escape. For the Federal Bureau of Prisons and the Tucson prison, however, there are enough reasons that will not change to keep Raniere in the Special Housing Unit (SHU). Raniere is a man who will never conform. He will take every opportunity to file complaints and grievances against others. He will have even more opportunity to file grievances against anyone and anything when he gets into general population.

You have zero proof that your family member was killed. There is however proof Hiedi Clifford said your family member was pregnant. She also said she was acting like she was responsible for a space ship explosion. Look up the statistics for suicide by kayak and see for yourself how unlikely this was.

Interestingly, I recently looked up Mark Vicente web site. Was looking for info about his movies he’s working on, but I came across his course page. Sounds like he has started his own “self help” group just like wife Bonnie.
“RECLAMATION – Embracing Feelings of Shame and Failure.
5 Modules
12 Videos
My Personal Stories
Journaling Prompts
Guided Explorations & Meditations
Approx 2-3 Hours
Single Payment of $147.00 US”
Hmm. Modules, videos, guided explorations and meditations,
Wow. This course sounds very very familiar. I mean, seriously. Don’t these people learn?

Any hint (however unlikely) of this sociopath – borderline psychotic actually – being released must be scary for those involved as prosecution witnesses in the original trial. Keith Raniere has always demonstrated his vindictiveness towards those who have sensibly fled his influence. His bullying of Toni Natale, Barbara Bouchey and Susan Dones are all evidence of this. Hopefully those deluded Bronfman girls won’t be suckered into funding him. He’s a very nasty piece of work, hellbent on revenge, intimidation and litigation. I hope sufficient restraining orders will be put in place if there is even the teeniest, tiniest chance of this truly toxic person being out and about in public again.

The Guinness Book of World records will soon be able to honour Raniere with the title, most appeals lost, with multiple specialists.

Thanks Frank. So if keith doesn’t get to dress up for Halloween this year and has to serve out his sentence, one wonders how he’ll eventually spend those five years on probation 96 years from now. Perhaps he will:

– Finally get that group blow job (bummer, he was so close last time!)
– Have V-Week with Make Justice Blind
– Walk around Albany and set off car alarms with his mind
– Play Moonlight Sonata again, and then something else!
– Finish that math problem on his whiteboard
– Do a one-second, one-handed hand stand with his other hand
– Become the West Coast Judo Champion
– Get listed in the New Zealand Guinness Book of World Records

Maybe he will do all of these things, maybe something new. It’s hard to say what the world’s smartest man can accomplish in that period of time. He does have 96 years to plan it, and that’s a lot of planning!

Slap my heinie.

Holly shit! Great post!
I feel obligated to add to it.
– During a late night volleyball water break, he’ll finally beat the NYS 100 yard dash record.
– To celebrate the new record, he’ll go full Jordan and dunk a volleyball from the foul line.
– He’ll figure out a way to get more than the perfect score & become the new Pac Man champion.
– During his winning dance at the Ballroom Dancing Championship, he’ll solve a Rubik cube while spinning Clare.
– He’ll start an ethical MLM that helps you kill people for your beliefs & shields you from prosecution by keeping your name off the paper trail.

Raniere has had some of the best legal representation money can buy…

He’s still in prison, because he’s guilty.

What person deserves 120 year sentence who has not committed murder.

Sex with a 15 year old girl? That deserves 120 years?

Hey,’ Raniere is no angel but 120 years?

119 would have been much more reasonable. I mean seriously….to give someone 120 years…..then tack on 5 years probation after? Like really….

Sex with a 15 year old girl AND multiple counts of racketeering, racketeering conspiracy, fraud, human trafficking and child pornography. He deserves every minute of the allocated prison time. Unfortunately he can’t be criminally charged for his bullying, intimidation and coercion, to name but a few of his actions towards others, but it does prove that the ‘smartest man in the world’ is morally bankrupt and unfit to live in the wider population.

Please indicate Raniere’s success rate in his previous lawsuits, appeals, petitions, and complaints. Raniere’s success rate is remarkably low, consistently at 0 percent. Keith is ripe for a new personal failure record. To date, no one has been able to boast a lower failure rate. His total failure rate cannot be beaten.
