Richard Luthmann, a writer for Frank Report, is suing New York City Councilmember Kamillah Hanks over her alleged failure to pay him for legal work and campaign expenditures before he was disbarred.

Luthmann’s lawsuit claims he was not paid for campaign work in 2017 for Hanks and her partner Kevin Barry Love.

Luthmann claims he is owed over $86,000 in fees for Hanks’ 2017 campaign for NYC Council against incumbent Debi Rose, who won the election.

Hanks subsequently won the election to the seat after Rose reached term limits in 2021, forcing her to vacate the seat.

The New York Post reported on Luthmann’s lawsuit: Disgraced ‘trial by combat’ lawyer sues NYC councilwoman over unpaid $86K bill.

In the Post’s story, Hanks did not respond to the allegations. Love called Luthmann’s allegations a “vulgar lie.”

Love told the Post, “Missing from his lawsuit is not a single piece of evidence other than the rantings of a mentally ill man.”

The New York Post did not seek comment from Luthmann.

Luthmann told Frank Report that he has ample evidence that Hanks, Love, and her campaign owe him tens of thousands of dollars and took advantage of his legal woes in 2018.

Luthmann faced federal and state charges was in pretrial custody, was convicted, and served four years in federal prison.

Luthmann said Hanks and Love took advantage of his incarceration, not paying him for his legitimate legal and campaign services.

He now wants to be paid. He told Frank Report:

“Kevin and Kamillah are running around Staten Island, telling anyone who will listen that they have ‘enemies’ out to ‘destroy’ them. Their enemies are their two big mouths. The evidence I plan to show reveals these two are deadbeats who took advantage of my legal difficulties to avoid their proper obligations.”

When asked about Love’s claims that Luthmann could not provide “a single piece of evidence,” Luthmann spun it back at Love.

He said, “Kevin Barry Love can call me all the names he wants, but he can’t produce a receipt or canceled check showing he paid my fees.”

Luthmann said, “My normal retainer was a minimum of $5,000. Hanks and Love cried poverty and asked me to take a down payment of $1,650 for the campaign work, promising they would pay me more later.”

Luthmann said he succeeded in eliminating Hank’s rival, Phil Marius, from the ballot.

Luthmann told Frank Report, “I worked to remove Marius, not for my benefit, but for Kamillah Hanks and her campaign. Kamillah, Kevin, and their consultant, Scott Levenson, know we agreed I would be paid.”

Luthmann produced emails in his court filing to support his claim that he did extensive work for Hanks.

Luthmann said he was not paid for hours of legal work beyond a $1,650 check, which did not even cover out-of-pocket costs.

Luthmann said he had costs such as:

  1. gas and tolls back and forth to the Board of Elections,
  2. opponent candidates’ petition copies,
  3. buff card copies,
  4. fees for the handwriting expert,
  5. process servers,
  6. private investigators,
  7. filing costs for the election law case in New York State Supreme Court,
  8. Cash paid to feed people performing the line-by-line examination of Hanks’ opponent Phil Marius’ petitions [Luthmann’s work resulted in Marius’ removal from the ballot]

Is Kamillah Hanks’ campaign lying about Luthmann’s involvement in 2017?

When word of Luthmann’s legal problems broke, Hanks tried to distance herself from Luthmann. Hanks’ campaign spokesperson Jennifer Blatus said, “Richard Luthmann was hired solely for the petitioning process and is not employed by this campaign.”

Hanks and Love also came to Luthmann for his legal skills when they had a family problem.

Luthmann said, “The Department of Education barred their daughter Nadia from participating in her graduation ceremony at LaGuardia High School because of her academic deficiencies.

“Her parents came. They appealed to me, putting it on a personal level. It was a sensitive matter. They did not want their daughter humiliated by not participating in the graduation ceremony when all her friends would be there. They needed my legal work done fast; graduation day was coming. They assured me of payment. ‘Whatever it takes,’ they said. ‘This is our daughter.’ Trusting their word, I went to court and won. I got a judge to order the school to let Nadia walk with all her classmates in the graduation ceremony.”

“Hanks and Love, the proud parents, never paid me a nickel. They didn’t even reimburse me for the cost of the Index Number in that case, which came out of my pocket.”

Luthmann claims Hanks and Love promise payment before the work is undertaken, then after it is completed, they fail to make payment.

Luthmann said. “It’s their business practice. They’re millionaires with deep pockets and alligator arms. They claimed they did not have enough money to pay me, yet afterward, I saw their photos on Facebook; they were vacationing in Paris.”

Luthmann claims he will reveal many details about witnesses, including ex-elected officials present during their arrangements.

Luthmann said meetings occurred in Love’s basement and Hank’s campaign headquarters parking lot.

Luthmann also groused that Kevin Love and his consultant Scott Levenson smoked his marijuana without ever offering to replenish it or offering any of their own.

Luthmann said, “Kevin Love and Scott Levenson never even paid for the pot we were smoking. They bogarted mine.”

Luthmann says Kamillah Hanks and Kevin Barry Love stiffed other campaign workers and consultants.

Luthmann advises others who might do business with the grifting couple to get the money upfront.

Luthmann said, “Hanks and Love have severe memory issues. Why not ask the people they owe money to? Their memory is much more feeble than their many creditors.”

Luthmann told Frank Report that if he wins the lawsuit against Hanks and Love, he will put the proceeds towards restitution from his 2019 conviction on an unrelated matter.

  • In my profession, the general rule is to never ask a question you don’t already know the answer to. The same goes for making a statement, that you aren’t 100% sure can’t be countered. Either one of those can make you look like a fool and lose your case.

Apparently, Kevin Barry Love has never heard of these rules. By swearing that Luthmann couldn’t provide a single piece of evidence, he opened the door for Luthmann to make him out to be a liar by providing the the e-mails and legal documents. Which just increased Luthmann’s chances of winning this case.

I happen to have seen Luthmann in action, when he was a lawyer. He might be crazy, but he was good. I would not be surprised if Luthman held back this damning evidence until after Love, who has the reputation of talking before thinking, opened his mouth. Now I’m wondering what other evidence Luthmann has up his sleeve.

There are a lot of people on Staten Island that are itching to see Love get his comeuppance.

    • Luthmann is going to destroy them. He was targeted and taken out because he’s too dangerous to too many people.

A talented, albeit aggressive attorney— conveniently becomes mentally ill— why courts get to label anyone as “crazy” shows the insanity.

Total bullshit yet our own courts- family, probate, and criminal, readily use this tactic to eliminate honest people.

They are then subjected to psych evals and forced medication. Sick people.

      • Anonymous 7:23,

I have seen what you are describing many times, in all 5 Counties of NYC, along with the Court Houses in Nassau and Suffolk. But I have Also been involved in cases where that type of railroading has backfied.

I kinda wish Luthmann had called me to take this case, because between Hanks & Love and Castorina & Nelson, Luthmann may end up a very rich man.

      • “ A talented, albeit aggressive attorney..”

If he was such a good and talented attorney, why did he have to run a scam side hustle in scrap metal? You would think the money would be rolling in for such a good and talented attorney.

        • I was. Read the Plea Transcript in my federal case. I stated clearly that I “represented” individuals who committed scrap metal fraud. I was also taken down because I “represented” politicians (a former Assemblyman and a current City Councilmember) who committed a Fake Facebook fraud. None of the bad actors actually got punished. Only I did. Because that is what the prosecutor and prosecutrix were told to do.

          • Good luck getting anyone to believe that you merely “represented” those people and didn’t initiate and engage in the acts yourself.

  • Barry Love clearly loves himself and loves his money. With all that money they couldn’t get their daughter enough support to graduate?

Self serving, attention seeking narcissists with no remorse.

    The takers in the world.

  • Is everyone who works for this site either a criminal or someone kicked out of their profession? No wonder you guys write so glowing about crazy people like Nickola Cunha..

    • Chris Ambrose- why don’t you try getting a job instead of trolling dot young hot Latinos, pretending you’re a barber, and harassing everyone in Frankreport. 👍🏽

      Step away from your laptop…
It is you that had the flying monkeys…
But they flew far away when they realized what a sick bastard you are— and when the agreed upon prove was secured 🤑

    • Crazy Chrissy… Crazy Chrissy… Crazy Chrissy… Crazy Chrissy… Crazy Chrissy… Crazy Chrissy…

      • Why do the people backing Karen sound like brain-damaged children on a playground? You sound like a crazy serial killer who dances around their apartment wearing diapers chanting crazy Chrissy. Thank God Karen didn’t get custody. All her friends sound like creeps.

    • It is the malignant narcissist that respite to calling others “crazy.” What exactly do you mean Ambrose?

Yesterday Moukhowsher ruled (without a hearing) that a former client of Cunha’s will be given $20,000 bc she said cunha overcharged her.

This is the paid for court that you destroyed the lives of your children with.

They took every penny and ordered on your bullshit lies. But they realized how sick you are. You made their job so much more difficult. And now you’re old, soft, white, and exposed for the freak that you are.

    • “All makes sense”,
I had never engaged with Frank Report until I found out Frank was bois with Roger Stone. I figured everything must on the up and up. When I found and read Luthmanns full bio, that sealed the deal.

    • I think eventually Cunha will be proven not to be guilty of the crazy label. There are tons of people in Connecticut who would say she is sane. Plenty of people witness the insanity of Connecticut family court

        • Advertising. If you say something enough times the public will believe it. Connecticut court would like everyone to believe these things so it dentures from the reality of what is really happening in the family courts. Yes, I think we have all gotten it by now. Collateral damage to not address the AFCC destruction of the family courts legal system . Keep the hell hole running just as it is for the money.

      • Um, she put the crazy label on herself, or at least her lawyer did, I assume with Cunha’s blessing.

  • Nadia Hanks was made to watch the movie “Psycho” as a minor, and was then made to write a paper about the film.

Interesting. And if this happened today, what would stop the girl’s legal team from suing the school for medical malpractice, since the legal system has established that showing someone a violent movie constitutes an illegal practice of medicine?

If the girl got her way because the teacher wasn’t clear about the rubric, how many other students in the same class or school were also given second chances to redo their assignments for similar reasons?

Are you able to share more details about this situation, or not due to attorney/client privilege? For example, how was she doing in the class outside of that one assignment? What was her overall GPA? Did she have a history of either not completing assignments, or turning in incomplete work?

Did the teacher have a history of not being clear with instructions?

    • This young woman has been humiliated enough by both the Department of Education’s treatment of her and the exposure of her parents stiffing me. I refuse to humiliate her any further by discussing the details of her case. Nadia is a beautiful person and I’m happy she graduated. I hope she gets college finished.

Kevin and Kamillah are just the opposite. They cheated the campaign finance rules in 2017. They cheated several of their so-called friends out of fees. They are DEADBEATS, and they directed every aspect of the 2017 campaign. EVERY ASPECT.

      Leopards don’t change their spots.

      • Schools should be appalled. Can’t believed they’re still pulling this shit which dies permanent damage to kids. Happy you prevailed but it is punitive and belittling conduct on the part of the schools.

Parlato has been prominently featured on HBO’s docuseries “The Vow” and was the lead investigator and coordinating producer for Investigation Discovery’s “The Lost Women of NXIVM.” Parlato was also credited in the Starz docuseries "Seduced" for saving 'slave' women from being branded and escaping the sex-slave cult known as DOS.

Additionally, Parlato’s coverage of the group OneTaste, starting in 2018, helped spark an FBI investigation, which led to indictments of two of its leaders in 2023.

Parlato appeared on the Nancy Grace Show, Beyond the Headlines with Gretchen Carlson, Dr. Oz, American Greed, Dateline NBC, and NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt, where Parlato conducted the first-ever interview with Keith Raniere after his arrest.
