Can Simple Bark From Chinchona Tree Cure Coronavirus?

[Editor’s Note: While Frank Report is in no position to judge the efficacy of quinine or chloroquine to cure coronavirus, it is not inappropriate to offer alternative possibilities for its cure].

By Ken Gibson

I am writing from New York City, once again Ground Zero for something very unpleasant.

Some say worse than 9/11, as that was over in an hour, while this hangs like a cloud, bringing death and shutdowns. Shops are empty, a small bottle of alcohol costs $6 if you can find one.

The spread is exponential, and we all fear death, a long and painful one at the hands of an organism that we cannot seem to fight.

But while New Yorkers, Americans, Italians, Spaniards and so many others live in fear of a plague greater than the Black Plague, the Chinese and the Koreans have rid their nations of this pest.

France has had success in treating its victims with the same substance that has worked in Asia: Chloroquine.

What worked for so long against malaria is now ready to fight a new hazard.

Image result for cinchona ledgeriana | Outdoor, Image, Snow

It has an interesting history. A tree in the Rubiaceae family, cinchona, has a bark that cured natives in South America. The tree that we use today is Cinchona ledgeriana, named after the British spy who paid a cascarillero – bark collector – to give him the seeds.

All South American nations, including Bolivia from whence this came, had refused to give the West the seeds. In 1865 Ledger had the seeds of the most effective tree and ended up selling them to the Dutch, who have had the near-monopoly on the plantations ever since.

Coronavirus: Trump vows to fast-track malaria drug Chloroquine ...
Chloroquine is used to treat infection caused by parasites. Can it cure coronavirus?

So something that is now produced worldwide, and is affordable with no lethal side effects and very few side effects to speak of – is what we need.

President Trump announced his support for making this available, cutting through the red tape that could slow this down for months. He sees no need for months of clinical trials for an already proven drug – which I believe needs no prescription. But some in the government want to waste time and oppose Donald Trump out of habit.

They are busy selling their hospitality stock (Diane Feinstein, the CA senator who had a Chinese spy as her driver) and doing other things. They are safe. Most of us are not.

So I urge everyone to support the drive for Quinine, Chloroquine, etc. It seems that more than just one quinine drug is effective.

I have called my loved ones to tell them of this, and am going out next thing to buy some and even some tonic water – before it sells out.

I have been praying for a cure to be found – and so thank God if this is it.

All of us have an obligation at this point to make sure that the cure is made available, and that nothing gets in the way.

Conspiratorial minded people are saying this was made in a lab (after all, this is not the first time a coronavirus emerged from Wuhan, China, where there is a bioweapons lab) and that it could be a plot to thin the population and/or replace money with a computer chip (666) in our hands while replacing brick & mortar shops with the internet.

If so, then expect politicians to delay the dissemination of a cure while they do their insider trading and sit back waiting to profit from the chaos.

So again, I urge that we make sure that the cure is the focus. I have felt led to pray exactly this for days, and so no surprise that just after National Prayer Day, we find out that the cure has been with us all along. Supplied from a tree.

God bless you all and stay safe.

****

Coronavirus cure: Elon Musks proposes COVID-19 treatment ...

Big Pharma is slowing this down. Gilead a big biotech firm wants its untested new drug used. We can’t wait on big pharma – as the article here notes, several countries are having positive results with chloroquine.

A black woman Democrat politician in Detroit has words for Trump and his promotion of chloroquine:

Michigan Dem Says Chloroquine Saved Her Life, Thanks Trump for ‘Making it a Priority’
Debra HeineBy Debra Heine • April 6, 2020
A Democrat state representative from Detroit, Michigan, who has been battling the coronavirus for weeks, is crediting hydroxychloroquine for saving her life, the Detroit Free Press reported on Monday. State Rep. Karen Whitset thanked President Trump —even as the corporate media continued to criticize him for touting an “unproven” drug—because she would not have asked for it unless he had brought it up.

Whitset and her husband have both suffered a range of symptoms—including swollen lymph nodes, and shortness of breath—since March 18, according to the Free Press.

00:00
She started taking taking hydroxychloroquine in combination with antibiotics on March 31.

Whitset told the news outlet that she started feeling relief in “less than two hours,” although she is still experiencing headaches.

Whitsett said she was familiar with “the wonders” of hydroxychloroquine from an earlier bout with Lyme disease, but does not believe she would have thought to ask for it, or her doctor would have prescribed it, had Trump not been touting it as a possible treatment for COVID-19.
Trump, at his daily coronavirus briefings, has repeatedly touted the drug in combination with the antibiotic azithromycin, despite criticism from health professionals that it is unproven and potentially dangerous. There have also been complaints that Trump’s remarks have resulted in a shortage of the drug for those people who normally use it for its recommended purposes.
But the freshman lawmaker had only praise for Trump’s comments about the potential benefits of the drug.

“It has a lot to do with the president … bringing it up,” Whitsett said. “He is the only person who has the power to make it a priority.”

When asked if she thinks Trump may have saved her life, Whitsett said: “Yes, I do,” and “I do thank him for that.”

Whitsett said her husband works as an engineer at Detroit Metropolitan Airport and the couple believes he was exposed at work. He is still awaiting the results of his COVID-19 test, she said.
She’s also lost people close to her through COVID-19 — a fellow Detroit lawmaker and a member of the clergy, among others — and said the entire experience has been scary.
“This is a very uncertain time,” she said. “As a lawmaker, I want to be sure, but I’m not always sure.”
The governor of Michigan initially restricted the use of chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine to treat patients suffering with the coronavirus, but reversed course last week after the Food and Drug Administration approved the emergency use of the drugs for COVID-19 patients.

On Monday, a major medical society also endorsed using hydroxychloroquine for seriously ill coronavirus patients.

The American Thoracic Society, which specializes in the treatment of respiratory diseases, issued the following guidelines for COVID-19 patients with pneumonia:

“To prescribe hydroxychloroquine (or chloroquine) to hospitalized patients with COVID-19 pneumonia if all of the following apply: a) shared decision-making is possible, b) data can be collected for interim comparisons of patients who received hydroxychloroquine (or chloroquine) versus those who did not, c) the illness is sufficiently severe to warrant investigational therapy, and d) the drug is not in short supply,” the Thoracic Society said.
Availability of the life-saving drug was threatened last week, when India banned exports of all forms of hydroxychoroquine in order to preserve supplies for domestic use. Nearly half of the supply of the drug to the U.S. comes from India.

But the Asian nation reportedly agreed to make an exception for the United States after President Trump talked to Indian Prime Minister Modi.

The reason Chloroquine is not a perfect fix is that for those with g6pd deficiency it will kill them. There are nearly 400 million people with this and most are unaware they even have it. Most common in males of Mediterranean, Asian, and African descent. I’m a 44-year-old Italian-American woman with this deficiency. It’s very rare but I have it and nearly died from it 4 years ago.

hydrochloroquine and high levels of vitamin C are also extremely deadly as well to people who are g6pd deficient

Sadly, very sadly, on this site, the information that males of Asian, African and probably Mediterranean origin too- if they have enough melanin, would be at risk of possible death, will be greeted with great good cheer. Disgusting but true.

I wish you all the best, thank you for your attempt to kindly inform us of these dangers.

Thanks for that information, we need to have as much information as possible including the cons.
Just as there are people who are allergic to penicillin, there will be people for whom chloroquine is not appropriate. From the vast body of medical research however, most people have no serious problem with it.
I might ask if your condition precludes the use of any quinine products, or just the synthetic forms?
It is interesting to note that even vitamin C can cause problems.

Here’s some real scientific discussion of the issue, from the latest Medscape.

Note that it teases out an important distinction, missed here: Chloroquine has problems including side effects, but the synthetic (not “natural,” and thus apparently ignored by Gibson, who is ignorantly promoting the more dangerous compounds) hydroxychloroquine is actually the safe version.

And it also cites the example of cyclosporin in HIV, that treatments with seeming initial promise often don’t pan out.

And it’s a rather sanguine appraisal of the compound as part of a multi-drug treatment in cases, not a miracle cure.

COVID-19: Could Hydroxychloroquine Really Be An Answer?

Chloroquine was ruled out due to the risk of interactions with other medications for common comorbidities in infected patients, and because of possible adverse effects in patients undergoing resuscitation.
….
While the data have not yet been published, and should therefore be interpreted with caution, this non-randomised, unblinded study showed a strong reduction in viral load with hydroxychloroquine.”
….
The announcement of positive results from this small study split medical opinion.

Professor Gilles Pialoux, an infectious disease specialist at Tenon Hospital, was cautious in his response. He told Medscape’s French Edition: “The idea is interesting but we need large, randomised, controlled trials. We should not communicate this kind of information on YouTube, it is not meaningful.”

“Don’t forget, this compound has not been included in Inserm’s trial because there are more interesting avenues, such as remdesivir or Kaletra [lopinavir/ritonavir]. We must be careful not to repeat the story with cyclosporin in HIV.”
….
On the adverse effects, Professor Thomas Papo, from Bichat Hospital, the University of Paris, confirmed via email: “Hydroxychloroquine (Plaquenil, which is not chloroquine), vaunted by Didier Raoult as an anti-viral, has been used for decades in tens of thousands of patients, for several decades, so we have a huge follow-up and lots of data. This drug is remarkably well tolerated and we give it to all patients with lupus (for example), including in pregnant women. The main complication (retinal toxicity) is rare and does not last beyond 5 years of continuous use.”‘

I am NOT promoting any of the so called ‘more dangerous compounds’ I resent this false statement and will ask that you identify yourself or that Frank remove that statement. I am considering suing as this is libel.

What I am promoting is factual study of ALL quinine medicines, to be applied legally and with any due caution.

AnonyMaker speaks for remdesivir – which FAILED in China and did NOTHING for HIV. So a falied drug is good,
and quinine drugs are ‘dangerous’?

How long as remdesivir been around? Not long. Not enough to say whether it it dangerous.
How long have quinine drugs been around? Centuries.

How long will mankind be around? Not much longer if they listen to a person who does not even use their real name,
promotes failed new synthetic meds, and knocks proven meds that have NO lethal side effects.

What the hell is AnonyMaker, a saboteur working to kill us all?

I was actually avoiding politics with the link I posted earlier – you should have read into it.

If you want the full explanation, here it is from a Forbes article makes clear exactly why they did what they did:

Man Dead From Taking Chloroquine Product After Trump Touts Drug For Coronavirus

‘When President Trump incorrectly announced that the FDA had fast-tracked approval of the drugs chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine for treatment of COVID-19, he added, “The nice part is, it’s been around for a long time, so we know that if it—if things don’t go as planned, it’s not going to kill anybody.”
….
The woman, age 61, and her husband, 68, were healthy and had no underlying conditions, but they were worried about catching the virus. She had recognized the name “chloroquine” when she heard Trump say it because she had used it to treat her Koi fish.’

‘”We saw Trump on TV — every channel — and all of his buddies and that this was safe,” the woman, who is in critical care after taking the drug with her husband, told NBC News’ Vaughn Hillyard. “Trump kept saying it was basically pretty much a cure.”‘

That woman did NOT have a prescription for anything. Her husband took FISH TANK CLEANER.
President Trump did NOT tell her to drink fish tank cleaner.
But you like quoting things which sound authoritarian to write long comments and impress us.
We are not impressed.
Leave the fish tank cleaner alone.
Try some tonic water and vitamin C.

Oh how stupid you are! You always have something to say no matter how badly you are proven wrong, or how badly
your misinformation can hurt people. But many thanks.
Strange as that may sound, you did manage to aid in the research. An article claiming that this couple had taken chloroquine
appeared in the left wing Trump hating New York Daily News, owned once by Ghislaine by an Epstein friendly billionaire named
Mort Zuckerman. Even left wing NYers got sick of it, there is a record of left wingers writing it to cancel their subscriptions to it\
on the http://www.brothers4trump.blogspot.com site if you want to inanely second guess my every word as you are wont to do.
Enough already. Let facts prevail.
But getting back to why I would thank anyone like you, the fact is that the article that recently appeared in the NYDN told us only that this
man had taken chloroquine. One might assume that it was a prescription he had and that the drug was a terrible chemical that kills people on the first bite.
The Tucker Carlson piece, to which you provided a link, reported the story but with the crucial, missing detail:

The couple, both in their 60s, required immediate hospital assistance within 30 minutes of ingesting the drug, which is normally used at aquariums to clean fish tanks, according to Banner Health, which is headquartered in Arizona.

The drug they took was intended for a fish tank, NOT chloroquine as prescribed for humans, who have taken chlorquine without any recorded deaths since WWII – while taking quinine, without any rercorded deaths, for centuries.

You like to run your mouth, selecting data. This ought to be a crime. ARE YOU WORKING FOR CHINESE INTEL AND ARE YOU TRYING TO DISSUADE AMERICAN FROM USING QUININE/CHLOROQUINE BECAUSE YOU ARE A SICK IDIOT OR ARE YOU JUST LONELY AND BORED AND LIKE TO GET ATTENTION?

Please stop. This is not just a game. People are dying and we need facts and a cure.

You’re the one who’s playing games with the facts, or just being sloppy and inaccurate. You wrote, trying to lead readers down a rhetorical tangent:

This appeared in the NY Post – owned by the Murdochs’ News Corp, the same as Fox News.

Man dies after self-medicating with chloroquine phosphate to treat coronavirus
https://nypost.com/2020/03/23/man-dies-after-self-medicating-with-chloroquine-phosphate-to-treat-coronavirus/

The point is, that they were mislead by inaccurate and irresponsibly presented speculation, which sets up the possiblity if not the probability of just that sort of mistaken tragedy occurring. According to the surviving wife, they had heard Trump say that it was a “cure”, and talk about how “safe” it was – which we’ve heard here, even though those things are not actually true. That’s a setup for someone who doesn’t understand the nuances of distinguishing between closely related chemical compounds, to make a serious mistake – or even a fatal one.

You’re engaging in the same sort of thing here, for example:

The Truth About Tonic Water

“Since medicines tend to have side effects, is it possible that a hidden health risk is swirling around in tonic water? The answer is yes, with some caveats.
….
Side effects so serious, in fact, they were the reason the Food and Drug Administration banned doctors in 2010 from prescribing the drug to treat nighttime leg cramps, a frequent off-label usage. The most serious of the common side effects is thrombocytopenia, a drop in the blood’s platelet count that can lead to internal and external bleeding, as well as a related condition that can cause permanent kidney damage. Worse, these and other side effects occur to some degree in up to one in 25 patients treated with medicinal doses of quinine.

Happily, the low dose of quinine found in a glass or two of tonic water isn’t enough to trigger these issues in most people. However, for the unlucky few, even the small amount of quinine in tonic water can cause thrombocytopenia (doctors call this rare occurrence a “gin and tonic purpura”).

People may also develop sensitivities and allergies to quinine as a result of occasional tonic water consumption, only to experience a full-blown reaction years later, upon taking a medicinal dose of quinine.

Quinine can pass through the placenta from mother to fetus and there is some limited evidence that it can cause birth defects, so pregnant women should avoid the drug unless a doctor prescribes it to fight malaria. People with the metabolic disorder glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency (G6PD) should also avoid it.”

The article also appeared in the New York Daily News. I took the Post to task on a similar article – by Amanda Woods.
Your noting of every instance in which there is a caveat to quinine use is really staring to be a sick obsession.
Common sense is something your parents failed to impart to you.
Tonic water is drunk by millions, maybe billions. If it were really dangerous, it would be recalled, or at least
sold with warning labels.
It is stocked by CVS, Morton Williams, etc. Most delis in NYC have it, a bit less in Hispanic hoods where
gin & tonic is not drunk. But even in the Hispanic hoods I have found it – Key Foods on B’way/187th, etc.

Why is it that you, and you alone, have some super knowledge that Canady Dry, Schwepps, Golds, Vintage and other makers do not? Are you smarter than CVS, Key Foods, Morton Williams, Sainsburys, A&P, Duane Reade, Walmart, K Mart put together? Does the US FDA consult you when they allow tonic water to be sold?

Hell no. You are an irrelevant person with no life, and I suspect more and more that you are someone who hates this country and wants to block common sense, support the Epstein brothers, the Clintons and Ghislaine Maxwell, and that you are paid by some sick Chinese government agents.

What do you do for a living – AnonyMaker – what is your real name?

I am hereby asking the DHS to track down you URL and put you on a watchlist.

Enough of your already.

Tonic water is an approved drink that any American has the right to buy. It contains quinine that is well known and tested in many situations. Of course there may be some person allergic to it, or if overused it can cause
some complication. So can water. Someone died drinking 3 gallons on a radio show.

Maybe water you want to take issue with me if I recommend we drink enough water?

Please, DHS, get the URL from which this person is writing and track him or her down.

“PATIENTS:

And again, I’m all for proper medical trials to see if it works in conjunction with other treatments, for which it has show some promise – along with a number of other things that need to be researched properly, not all of which are going to turn out to be effective or safe for the intended use (as the latest MedLine article notes, COVID-19 patients have just some of the symptoms that quinine compounds can unintentionally aggravate).

Donald Trump Jr. humiliated MSNBC’s attempt at sensationalism. 🙂

FACT: This drug has been approved as safe for over 50 years and the media had no objection to it before this week. LOL.

But now that Trump praises this drug as helpful, the media is now in ‘meltdown mode’ claiming that it’s not safe. LOL.

This is a wacky media we have. It no longer cares about neutrality or truth.

The media simply argues with anything that Trump praises.

If Trump praised a new cancer vaccine that actually worked to cure cancer, the media would likely argue that it should be avoided because it was developed by Big Pharma out of greed, LOL.

Guess what?

Overdosing on water, Viatmin A and Vitamin C can be harmful too. Overdosing on anything can be harmful. But the studies indicate that only 500mg of this drug is necessary to treat COVID —— that’s only 25% of 2 grams (25% of 2,000 mg).

It’s already approved by the FDA, you dummies. It’s been approved for over 50 years.

Duh. 🙂

AnonyFaker should go back to school and learn something before parroting useless drivel. I think he’s probably an older guy and a diehard liberal who doesn’t have much to look forward to in life. I think he’s probably a guy who spends 6 hours per day on Huffington Post. LOL.

Have a nice day. 🙂

NY Gov. Cuomo Rejected Buying Recommended 16,000 Ventilators in 2015 for Pandemic, Established Death Panels and Lottery Instead

Life comes at you fast, as the saying goes, or as the case may be in this era of a viral pandemic, death comes at you fast. Sadly it is the latter for the citizens of New York who will pay the price for Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s (D) 2015 decision to not fix a shortfall and buy the recommended 16,000 ventilators to shore up the state’s stockpile in case of a pandemic. Cuomo spent more money than the cost of the ventilators on a solar panel boondoggle, reports former New York Lieutenant Governor Betsy McCaughey (R) in a syndicated column published this past week. McCaughey reports the Cuomo administration decided instead to establish “triage officers” to decide in a crisis who would get a ventilator and who would be left to die.

Just wanted to annoy the liberal scare-mongers one final time. 🙂
==============================================

The news media has called the drugs hydroxychloroquine & azithromycin “false hope”.

The news media has called these 2 drugs merely “anecdotal” for their effects on COVID.

Even though widespread test trials aren’t done yet, let’s look at REAL TEST TRIAL RESULTS from one of the world’s top doctors for infectious diseases.

Quote from his first test trial:

“At day 6 post-inclusion, 100% of patients treated with hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin combination were virologicaly cured comparing with 57.1% in patients treated with hydroxychloroquine only, and 12.5% in the control group”

For those of you who don’t understand it…

He’s saying that 100% of his patients who were given BOTH drugs in combination (hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin) were 100% cured of COVID within 6 days.

For his patients who weren’t given ANY drugs, only 12.5% of them were cured after 6 days (their body’s own natural immune system cured 12.5% of patients in that time frame).

For his patients who were given only hydroxychloroquine (by itself), 57.1% of them were cured after 6 days.

*Therefore, BOTH drugs taken together are an extremely effective combination for dealing with COVID based on real world testing (this is not just ‘anecdotal’ evidence as the fake news media is attempting to report).

Read the study below:

https://www.mediterranee-infection.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Hydroxychloroquine_final_DOI_IJAA.pdf

BTW: This doctor’s credentials are among the best in the world. He’s not some average MD. He’s a top infectious disease specialist that’s highly respected.

I’d therefore say it’s not just ‘false hope’ to be optimistic about these treatments.

Trump is being very pragmatic —– when he indicated that he’s ‘hopeful’ that it’ll be an effective treatment, even though we must wait for widespread test trials before we can be 100% sure.

Science is a slow process which requires ‘widespread’ test trials to be finished before doctors (like Dr. Fauci) are ethically allowed to make definitive statements about these treatments. So it’s natural that no doctor is gonna share Trumps’ optimism on TV until every single test trial has been finished. They are ethically bound not to make such comments until the process is completed.

That’s precisely why Trump is the person who shared his optimism on TV —– rather than waiting weeks for other doctors to confirm it.

Trump carefully said that it ‘may’ or ‘may not’ be as effective as he thinks, therefore he was honest with the American people. I’m not sure how that can be interpreted as ‘misleading’ by anybody.

It would be a heck of a coincidence for a study to show a 100% cure rate in 6 days versus only a 12.5% cure rate for patients without these drugs.

Why?

Because it’s very rare — almost impossible — to see 100% successful results in any test trial, even in small test trials (especially from a top doctor who is highly respected).

This doesn’t mean it’s a magic bullet to cure everybody —– but it does mean that there’s reason to be optimistic that these drugs will at least be able to help many people with COVID.

*It’s also interesting that Gov Cuomo is praising these 2 drugs (for NY patients) and is sharing Trump’s hopefulness, yet no media outlets are criticizing the democratic governor for giving out ‘false hope’. LOL.

How do the liberals on this forum explain this difference? 🙂

It’s kinda like how Biden said that Trump was wrong for banning flights from China last month (which means Biden would have let in more infected people if he were president) —— yet he’s now saying that Trump should have done even more. LOL.

That’s not just ‘hypocritical’, it’s downright ‘dementia’ type hypocrisy. LOL.

Can any liberal explain Biden’s remarks?

Have a nice day. 🙂

To answer the question of the title: No, obviously, it fails the reality-check that if it were, countries (plural) would be using it to great success – and they’re not, though some are experimenting with it as a possible piece of the puzzle. Other countries like South Korea, in particular, which has been especially determined to make an all-out national effort to get a handle on the problem, and also France, which has its own tradition of going its own way, haven’t yet found it to be a panacea.

How often in advertising and the less-rigorous media, do we hear claims of a “miracle cure” or “solution” for this, that and the other thing – which almost never pan out, and sometimes even turn out to be worse than ineffective? We should exercise the same degree of scrutiny, as if this was something that popped up in an article or an ad on a sleazy website.

Also, in another typical problem, given quinine and chloroquine’s side effects and those of many other “natural” and pharmaceutical substances, anyone who jumped on the bandwagon of trying to use them without a doctor’s advice and supervision, would run the risk of suffering more harm than benefit, as happened during the fen-phen “miracle” diet fad which left many with permanent heart damage.

What you need to know about hydroxychloroquine, Trump’s new favorite treatment for Covid-19
“Trump wants to use the anti-malaria drug to treat the new coronavirus, but the evidence is lacking.”

“researchers only looked at 36 patients and only 26 actually received hydroxychloroquine in the study — a tiny sample size. Hydroxychloroquine can also have side effects like headaches, dizziness, and diarrhea, so it’s not something that doctors can blanketly prescribe. And the study wasn’t blinded, meaning the patients knew what they were getting, nor was it randomized. That limits the scientific merit of the study.”

https://www.vox.com/2020/3/20/21188433/coronavirus-hydroxychloroquine-chloroquine-covid-19-treatment

‘World Health Organization officials were asked at a press briefing on Feb. 20 about chloroquine, which is closely related to hydroxychloroquine. Dr. Janet Diaz, a WHO official, responded: “For chloroquine, there is no proof that that is an effective treatment at this time. We recommend that therapeutics be tested under ethically approved clinical trials to show efficacy and safety.”

At the time, Diaz instead mentioned: “priority therapeutics” including lopinavir, ritonavir and remdesivir that were under review for COVID. Indeed, many other drugs are on a list of pharmaceuticals that scientists are attempting to repurpose for the novel coronavirus.

Christian Perronne, an infectious diseases physician at Greater Paris University Hospitals, Garches, France, said he found the Marseilles results “very encouraging,” adding that the “safety profile of hydroxychloroquine is good.”

Nonetheless, he said, “I agree with authorities and colleagues that, before recommending this treatment on a large scale, this efficacy should be further studied on a bigger number of patients with a longer follow-up.”’

https://www.forbes.com/sites/marybethpfeiffer/2020/03/18/science-works-to-use-old-cheap-drugs-to-attack-coronavirus–it-might-just-work/#6482b6ad5c49

I’m not saying that it might not turn out to be part of a useful treatment regimen, but it’s certainly no miracle cure. And it’s not at all clear whether it would help with acute problems of the pandemic, such the large proportion of COVID-19 patients who need to be hospitalized for treatment.

You talk a lot and say nothing. The side effects are MINIMAL. Maybe you’d like the Post article implying that quinine kills kids.
It doesn’t but the headline gets attention – as does the multitude of your erudite words.
WHO cannot be trusted. Big Pharma, and the FAKE NEWS press – cannot be trusted.
Man has trusted quinine for centuries. I am not saying it 100% cures corona – but, since China and Korea both claim
it wiped out the disease, why are you even talking? Do you work for Big Pharma? Or the Chinese who leashed this upon the world,
possibly as a bio weapon?
Why am I using my real name, and giving my location – NYC – while you hide and use AnonyMaker?
Cuomo this morning talked about quinine. As gov of the state the most afflicted, he is willing to try it.
Good thing he does not listen to some anonymous loudmouth like you.

China and Korea are not claiming “it wiped out the disease” – do you have any source for that? Korea has also not wiped out the disease, by any means, and continues to see new cases as well as a small but steady rate of deaths, see for instance https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/south-korea/

And no, I am not opposed to research and use of quinine compounds. I just object to fake news claims exaggerating its abilities and the likelihood that it will be anything more than just one piece of a complex triage and treatment puzzle, until real cures and preventions are found. Even the French researchers are rather sanguine in the actual comments in their paper.

We dealt with biographies on that old thread in which you continually had to backtrack on your claims as I presented evidence debunking them, and exposed your propensity for misrepresentation and even fabrication. You were paid off for your Arabic-only hit job on America by a firm that’s a front for the Muslim Brotherhood, run by a family one of whose first names is literally Jihad – yes, I’ve checked up, though I’ll grant it’s possible you are enough of a dupe not to have known who lured you to betray your country. I have good reason for remaining anonymous, as I’m also a critic of Scientology, which comes after people in a way that makes even Raniere and Bronfman at their worst, look like lightweights – unlike you, I’m not a virtual homeless person with nothing to lose.

As for who to trust, have you considered the very real problems with the reliability and judgment of the source of the current focus on quinine compounds?

I just read the redstate article and I agree with it. I can add to it the article by Amanda Woods in the NY Post in which a headling implies that quinine is killing kids. It is not, her article is based on a 37 year old story about a 2yo who got into his dad’s meds and died. Bad dad to leave his meds where the tot could swallow them, and there was no determination that quinine drugs killed the child.
But Big Pharma could slow down our response with such stupid stories, and AnonyMaker may be trying to do the same.

Looking at the US fatality, the fatality rate is drastically declining as the number of cases increases, halving every four or five days. The fatality rate will eventually level off and plateau as the US case-mix becomes apparent.

4.06% March 8 (22 deaths of 541 cases)
3.69% March 9 (26 of 704)
3.01% March 10 (30 of 994)
2.95% March 11 (38 of 1,295)
2.52% March 12 (42 of 1,695)
2.27% March 13 (49 of 2,247)
1.93% March 14 (57 of 2,954)
1.84% March 15 (68 of 3,680)
1.90% March 16 (86 of 4,503)

1.66% March 18 (150 of 9,003)
1.51% March 19th (208 of 13,789)

All the evidence, including probably the most relevant, the analysis of the cruise ship case, as well as that of the death rate in China outside of Wuhan and that of Korea, is that at an absolute minimum the case fatality rate would be .5%, still several times that of an average influenza type:

https://i.insider.com/5e62892ffee23d347c732e45?width=600&format=jpeg&auto=webp

https://i.insider.com/5e5fc740fee23d14eb3dd212?width=750&format=jpeg&auto=webp

And you still keep failing to take into account the unusually high 20% hospitalization rate of COVID-19 compared to .05% for an average influenza, which risks overwhelming our health care system – and would then result in higher death rates as there would not be enough resources to save many patients.

And which is it, will it be just like the flu, or will it be like the 1918 Spanish Flu and cull much of the population – but that’s a good thing (claimed elsewhere)? Does which of the opposing arguments you make depend on your vary state of mind, or just what you think will best yank people’s chains at the moment?

Have a good read, Anon, this is the document that prompted our latest measures (UK)

https://www.imperial.ac.uk/media/imperial-college/medicine/sph/ide/gida-fellowships/Imperial-College-COVID19-NPI-modelling-16-03-2020.pdf

and keep up your information.

I am taking advice from the HOD in our college that wrote the epidemiology module for all our trainee health care workers: nurses, radiologists, midwives and paramedics.

She recommends bolstering our immune system and paying close attention to our respiratory system, our liver and kidneys, which will be dealing with the important function of ridding the body of pathogens.

NAC (N-acetyl-cysteine) is an excellent antioxidant, increasing levels of glutathione which will provide some protection for your lungs but most especially your liver. It is a first rate hepa-protective and is the agent administered in all AE, when presented with Tylenol OD cases, (here its just called paracetamol.)

It is cheap, plentiful and well tolerated. READ CONTRAINDICATIONS when you research these things, as you obviously would, because this info is being given to you by a stranger.

Selenium supplementation helps too. BUT YOU MUST PAY ATTN TO DOSAGE. Please google.

I wouldn’t take quinine atm as I need my vital organs, immune and respiratory functions to be operating as well as possible in a crisis like this. For what its worth the HOD in question thinks quinine would make you a whole lot more susceptible. Take care.

“For what its worth the HOD in question thinks quinine would make you a whole lot more susceptible.”

Yep – possible unintended side effects, or even the opposite of the intended effect, from untested treatments. As I noted elsewhere, that’s been the case with other supposed “miracle” cures and treatments, like the infamous fen-phen weight loss drug that turned out to cause heart damage.

Thanks for that contribution.

Also, by the way, when doing some fact-checking, I found that China does have malaria in some of its Southern border counties, so its medical system is probably quite familiar with what the quinine compounds can – and can’t – do.

If that reduction of the “herd” is up to 2.2 million Americans, that’s “overkill” – and reason to panic.

In Italy they have reportedly sent down orders not to give life-saving treatments to people over 60 – where does that leave you, if it happens here?

Trump is the one who said “This is a bad one. This is a very bad one.”, and his administration including the CDC is issuing grave warnings and taking rarely if ever before seen steps. Or are you saying he’s just being pushed around by the Democrats – meaning he’s weak and unable to take the lead? That he invoked the Defense Production Act for the first time since the Korean War – it wasn’t needed during the Asian flu pandemic of 1957, or the Hong Kong flu pandemic of 1968 – for no good reason?

The fatality rate (death percentage) is gonna go way down in the next few weeks —— because right now the total population that’s infected is higher than we’ve been able to record so far (due to many people not being tested yet because they do not require hospitalization and do not have serious symptoms).

But the actual ‘fatalities’ that we’ve recorded are exactly correct.

Thus, as we begin testing more people we’ll get higher numbers of infected people who don’t need hospitalizations —— and the fatality rate (percentage) will continue to drop because of basic mathematics.

Read and learn…

Quote from article:
====================

Declining fatality rate

As the US continues to expand testing, the case fatality rate will decline over the next few weeks. There is little doubt that serious and fatal cases of COVID-19 are being properly recorded. What is unclear is the total size of mild cases. WHO originally estimated a case fatality rate of 4% at the beginning of the outbreak but revised estimates downward 2.3% — 3% for all age groups. CDC estimates 0.5% — 3%, however stresses that closer to 1% is more probable. Dr. Paul Auwaerter estimated 0.5% — 2%, leaning towards the lower end. A paper released on March 19th analyzed a wider data set from China and lowered the fatality rate to 1.4%. This won’t be clear for the US until we see the broader population that is positive but with mild cases. With little doubt, the fatality rate and severity rate will decline as more people are tested and more mild cases are counted.

The numbers on that chart for the US appear artifically low because we lag so abysmally in testing compared to other countries:

They assume the US has fewer than 20,000 active cases. But Dr. Trevor Bedford, a Fred Hutch computational biologist, estimates there are actually more likely around 120,000 cases, with an upper range of 235,000 – which would be about 370 cases per 1M population and 700 per 1M at the highest, very unfavorable compared to Italy and Spain’s number.

The author of that admits: “You may ask yourself. Who is this guy? Who is this author? I’m a nobody.”

He’s apparently someone with a background in putting together numbers to pitch proposals in the business world, but with no experience or training in virology, immunology, or anything relevant.

The basic reality check is that COVID-19 continues to spread exponentially, particularly in death rates, not only in Italy but in other countries including France, now Spain, and even the Netherlands – which is seeing its death rate increase more rapidly than Italy’s (120% in the last 24 hours):

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/italy/
https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/france/
https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/spain/
https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/netherlands/

Regardless of how its spread is characterized, it is happening at a relatively high rate when people go about normal lives and come into contact with others, and the CDC considers there to be community spread in the US:

“Twenty-seven U.S. states are reporting some community spread of COVID-19.”

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/cases-updates/summary.html

“The virus that causes COVID-19 seems to be spreading easily and sustainably in the community (“community spread”) in some affected geographic areas.”

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prepare/transmission.html

The author is, apparently, cherry-picking and possibly mis-representing sources to support the theory he’s trying to pitch, such as:

‘Van Kerkhove said true community spread involves transmission where people get infected in a movie theater, on the subway, or walking down the street. There’s no way to trace back the source of infection because there’s no connection between the infected person and the person he or she infects. That’s not what the Chinese data show, she said.

Marc Lipsitch, an infectious diseases epidemiologist at the Harvard School of Public Health, found this claim puzzling. “I have reached out to the World Health Organization to understand the basis of some of those statements. My perception is that there is significant community transmission, especially when you aren’t aware that someone is sick, because there’s not enough testing,” he said.’

9/11 was not over in an hour. People continue to die, primarily from the crap they inhaled in the days, weeks, and months after the attack while being a part of the search/rescue and recovery efforts.

There is no reason to fear death, unless you’re a heathen, and most people don’t die from the Wuhan Chinese coronavirus and it is nowhere near as dangerous as the Black Plague (is that racist?).

I agree that any drug, especially those already being used to treat other diseases and show promise, should be used to treat the Wuhan Chinese coronavirus. After all, we’re turning our economy upside down, and many people will die from this, totally independent from being sick from the Wuhan Chinese coronavirus. There is no zero impact path, and as Trump said during the campaign regarding Blacks voting for him, “what the hell do you have to lose?” It’s not an either/or, that we must wait for the drug to be proven scientifically effective/safe OR use it experimentally (and thanks to Trump, we have a new law from a year or two ago which allows such experimental use), there can and should be simultaneous parallel paths. After all, the claim is we’re trying to save lives, so why NOT use it in the attempt to save lives?

Thanks for that – yes, you are right, 9/11 was not over but at least the air attacks were.
Trump did pave the way with sensible legislation that Big Pharma does not like.
While I work with the NY Post – I was out scouting articles for them just yesterday and got Frank in touch
with them last year for his NXIUM documentary, I am sad to say that the only article I see from them
on quinine so far is a hit piece by Amanda Wood implying that quinine kills kids.
The article has no such data. It only says that 37 years ago, a 2 year old got a hold of some
in Tulsa and then died. Not even that he died from the pills, the family did not prove any such thing,
the vast, like 400 years worth – of medical evidence contradicts this.
More people die from stupid journalism. Amanda Woods ought to check to see if this
family really had crack or meth pills that their son died from, or if he was abused by them.
Any delay in getting meds is lethal. It may seem a joke to genXers in some state that has 2 cases,
but NYC is SHUT DOWN. Shelves empty. NO JOBS. and 40+ people a day DIE from this,
with something like 1,000 cases a day and more as they get more testing kits.

So let’s have the NYT and Post cover this – fake news about a kid who died 37 years ago is tainting
and slowing our response.

BTW. I bought 40gm of powdered chinchona bark, red chinchona, which is NOT C. legeriana,
but does have quinine, more than C. officianalis. There are 23 species in this genus and they\
vary in strength.

We should talk about Amway and other MLM scams sometime, they have caused a LOT of damage over the past several decades, far more than NXIVM ever dreamed of doing in Raniere’s wettest dream. My email is stoptheamwaytoolscam@yahoo.com

Tucker: Senator Burr sold shares after virus briefing

Whatever one thinks of Donald Trump in this contrived crisis he has shown himself to be cool, calm, in charge, decisive and Presidential
as opposed to the DemonRats who appear Cowardly and Craven.
Hasn’t Big Pharma already profited enough from exploiting illnesses?
A medicine that is already proven safe and is cheap to boot should be rushed into testing.

As for the reprehensible Diane Feinstein she is around eighty years old.
Isn”t she rich enough yet?
Her husband is a real estate executive whose company has an exclusive contract to sell surplus Post Office properties.
All these Senators who engaged in insider trading are corrupt and would steal the nickels off of a dead man’s eyes.

Thank you for sharing this, Mr. Gibson. President Trump also mentions that Arithromycin (known as Z-pac) in combination with the hydroquonine is proven to be a deterrent against Corona viruses.

I agree that big pharma lobbyists are spinning media coverage away from any natural, known remedies.

Why isn’t anyone, including the Whitehouse, talking about natural (or over-the-counter) ways to bolster our immune systems (vitamins A, C and E, echinacea, calcium & magnesium, CBD oil, etc.)?

And, I’m sorry but I’m not buying the bullshit about older folks being more susceptible bc their “immune systems are over-reacting” to counter-attack the virus as any excuse for not going there.

At the same time, it’s being reported that viral-stricken youngster’s lungs appear ravaged in x-rays.

There are also dangers to isolation, being deprived of human contact & social interactions, and (as Fred points out) being glued to your immunity-lowering cell phone is one of them.

Maybe Italy got hit hard bc Italians just cannot, genetically, ever STFU — why opera is so popular in that Country.

Thanks for that, I never heard of Arithromycin (Z-pac) but will keep an eye on this and mention it when appropriate.
Every little bit helps. The young are not taking it seriously because it feels so surreal, like it is a fake. It somehow does
not really make sense. I believe it is bio terror from China, and even if I am wrong, their bio terror lab ought to be shut down.
They tried to make $ off med supplies to Italy – when it is China’s fault. The world ought to seek reparations.
One thing I am looking for is some forensic accounting here – is there anyone who was buying up quinine BEFORE this hit?
One NJ company doubled the price of chloroquine in late Dec 2019.
Is all the top level quinine – that is, C. ledgeriana – coming out of Java?
I expect companies will be selling chinchona that is from lower level species such as C. officianalis. I did buy red chinchona
which I think is mid level.
Could be that C. ledgeriana is grown in the Philippines – it was in WWII – and in Costa Rica where the
US planted it during the war. And of course, in Bolivia, from whence it came.
Lots of great plants came from Bolivia – tomatoes, potatoes, 1/2 the world’s silver.

In 1982, I was diagnosed with advanced rheumatoid arthritis. I was reduced to a wheelchair within weeks of diagnosis. I was placed on an anti malarial drug called Hydroxychloroquin which was discovered to help people with immune disorders.

I can walk and live a normal life today because of it.

And medical marijuana has done more for me than ten years of physical therapy and 2400 mg of Advil a day.

Chlorquin is a prescription medicine. It does cause grouchiness. Over long term, your hair will fall out and you’ll need eye tests because it accumulates in your eyes.

If it works for coronavirus, bring it on.

My hunch is, there is an easy fix.

Don’t you know that aspirin is similar to a compound in willow bark?
Most medicines are derived from compounds in plants.

Salicylic acid is derived from willow bark. Most pharmaceutical compounds have their roots in Simples aka plants and minerals, not forgetting metals.

Salix is the genus name of willow. Plants have more medicines that Big Pharma can produce in a lab-
hemp/marijuana – willow – and chinchona – also spelled cinchona.

About the Author

Frank Parlato is an investigative journalist.

His work has been cited in hundreds of news outlets, like The New York Times, The Daily Mail, VICE News, CBS News, Fox News, New York Post, New York Daily News, Oxygen, Rolling Stone, People Magazine, The Sun, The Times of London, CBS Inside Edition, among many others in all five continents.

His work to expose and take down NXIVM is featured in books like “Captive” by Catherine Oxenberg, “Scarred” by Sarah Edmonson, “The Program” by Toni Natalie, and “NXIVM. La Secta Que Sedujo al Poder en México” by Juan Alberto Vasquez.

Parlato has been prominently featured on HBO’s docuseries “The Vow” and was the lead investigator and coordinating producer for Investigation Discovery’s “The Lost Women of NXIVM.” Parlato was also credited in the Starz docuseries "Seduced" for saving 'slave' women from being branded and escaping the sex-slave cult known as DOS.

Additionally, Parlato’s coverage of the group OneTaste, starting in 2018, helped spark an FBI investigation, which led to indictments of two of its leaders in 2023.

Parlato appeared on the Nancy Grace Show, Beyond the Headlines with Gretchen Carlson, Dr. Oz, American Greed, Dateline NBC, and NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt, where Parlato conducted the first-ever interview with Keith Raniere after his arrest. This was ironic, as many credit Parlato as one of the primary architects of his arrest and the cratering of the cult he founded.

Parlato is a consulting producer and appears in TNT's The Heiress and the Sex Cult, which premiered on May 22, 2022. Most recently, he consulted and appeared on Tubi's "Branded and Brainwashed: Inside NXIVM," which aired January, 2023.
