[This is a speculative piece about what may happen to Keith Alan Raniere once he is sentenced and assigned to a permanent prison. I based my observations on interviews with former prisoners and in part on an excellent story in the Atlantic Rape in the American Prison. Some readers may think this is an attempt at humor or vengeance toward Raniere. It is not. Prison rape is nothing to laugh about and all prisoners, including Raniere, should be protected from it. The sad fact is they are not. And this piece is meant to show what is likely to happen to Raniere as it has happened to hundreds of thousands of other men in prison in our US prison industrial state.]
He’s a punk.
If he doesn’t get one lover to take care of him and protect him, he will get passed around. Everybody in his block will have their turn. He will be a prison bitch.
Raniere did not go in gay, but he may learn to love it. At first it’s going to be uncomfortable. Hopefully he’ll get somebody who won’t tear his insides up. Someone gentle with him.
This is not based on his being attractive. He is weak. Weak is prey. He’s a target, You can’t rape everybody. It takes a special kind of weak person. Raniere is it.
He is going to iron clothes and clean for his man and perform sexual duties for his lover or lovers. If one man owns him, he might last longer, but if he doesn’t get someone to take care of him, he won’t last long.
He will be required to provide oral stimulation. People will line up to have their turn.
They have jealousy issues. If a man owns Raniere, he might tell him he cannot have sex with other men. That man will give him protection. Everybody else in the unit will know Raniere belongs to him. He will clean, cook and perform sexual acts. They don’t talk about it. Raniere is not going to talk about it to other inmates.
If he gets passed around, in my opinion, he will internally bleed and end up with a colostomy bag. He always has his mouth. Once they bust all of his teeth out he can gum it.
If he gets a pimp, he can be pimped for the right price. His femininity will be appreciated. He will be a reminder of women, a girlfriend or wife.
In the shower he has certain risks. Some man will come and put his arm around his throat, tell him that if he screams he will break his neck, then rape him. If he gets raped in the shower, he may be owned by that man. He is his property. His man, Keith’s husband, whatever you want to call it. And he makes all decisions for Keith.
Who knows, his owner might sell Keith to another inmate for say $20 of commissary. His new husband will force him to clean, make their beds, fold his laundry, and be available for sex 24/7. He might use Keith to settle gambling debts. Every time he loses, guess what he will use to pay? Keith’s ass.
And if he says no to his husband, he will be slapped, punched, choked, and worse.
He won’t want to report the abuse. Reporting abuse puts him in danger.
And Keith will be targeted the moment he enters his permanent facility. He is white, small, physically weak, has feminine characteristics, a high voice, unassertive, shy, intellectual, not street-smart, passive and was convicted of a sexual offense against a minor.
His rapists will be larger, stronger, more assertive, aggressive, more at home in prison, street smart, maybe gang members convicted of violent crimes. The men who will rape Keith will not view themselves as homosexual and, outside prison, prefer women.
You are not gay as long as you do not allow another man to stick his penis in your mouth or anus. If you do the penetrating, you can still be macho.
He will be raped by black men or Hispanics. Blacks and Hispanics don’t rape the other group. That could cause a riot.
Only a black can turn out a black, and only a Chicano can turn out a Chicano. But whites are perceived as weak and vulnerable. When most guys come to prison, they know they have to fight. The majority of white guys are not physically equipped to fight. So they are the majority forced into sex.
When a white man comes, blacks see him as a target. White men are effete or gay, whites are cowards. Whites are prey. Even a punk will be supported if he beats up a white dude.
A white guy has got to be tough. Or smart or both. Raniere is neither.
As a new inmate, if he comes to an open barracks prison, there will be competition among convicts as to who will seduce and subjugate him. Unless a prisoner is strong, ugly, and violent, he is going to get seduced, coerced or raped.
When he comes for the first time, he won’t know anyone. The cliques and gangs will watch him. They’ll see if he spends time alone, who he eats with. They’ll start playing with him, checking him out. He’ll be fresh meat.
Prisoners might fight over who will have the ‘Fuck Boy’ as his property.
He might be overpowered. Some tough guy will get Keith in his cell and choke him unconscious and rape him. Raniere is about 5’4″ and 160 pounds. He might be raped by a man 6’7″ and 300 pounds. Small inmates have a hard time in prison. Raniere will be a hunted animal most of the time.
An inmate’s size and strength is important to fend off unwanted advances. More important is “heart”–the courage to fight and willingness to resort to violence. An inmate has to prove he will stand up for himself. Keith doesn’t have heart.
To avoid being raped, Raniere needs to come ready to fight. But they will punk him out. He won’t fight. They’ll make him give them coffee, cigarettes, make him do things. He may be intimidated into submitting to sex with a gang member out of fear that, were he to refuse, a violent gang attack would ensue.
He should try to hang out with tough guys, staying in his cell – they take that as weakness.
He has almost no choice but to hook up with someone that could make them give him a little respect. If he doesn’t choose, he will get chosen. He will face unrelenting sexual harassment unless an inmate protects him. His best bet is to have an inmate “husband,” someone powerful enough in the hierarchy to keep other inmates away from sexually assaulting him.
Then Raniere has another thing against him. He was convicted of sex crimes against minors. Without a husband, they may beat him with mop handles and broom sticks, shove a mop handle up his ass and leave him like that.
A cellmate will wake him up at 2:30 a.m. and rape him, bash him on the head with a combination lock. He will teach him what a baby raper is. As a sex offender against juveniles, he is at the bottom of the pecking order. He may be raped as punishment. Sex offenders are the number one target for rape.
It won’t be a total stranger. He will have some prior awareness of the man who rapes him. There may be a period of harassment. Leering to sexually aggressive comments to threats. His cellmate may be touchie-feelie. Finally one day he’ll attack him. Or maybe it will happen fast. He will make a suggestive comment at lunch and rape him in the evening.
Another thing may happen – if he is lucky – for it is better than rape – men will jack off and cum on him. That may save him from being raped. He may get letters under his cell door. “You are one sexy cracker,” one might read. “You need a nigger to show you how to act:” “When the opportunity comes, I want to sneak in your house and hit that.”
One night after last count before bed, his cellmate may suddenly attack him, pulling down his pants and wrestling him onto the bottom bunk. Keith will try to resist, but he will stand little chance as the more powerful man forces his way in, slowly and painfully, in silence, without a condom or lubricant. It may last seven minutes. And Raniere will endure it. And say nothing.
Snitches suffer fates worse than rape.
He might ask to be placed in protective custody and get turned down. Or if he gets to go, he may be given a misconduct ticket for refusing to leave solitary confinement out of fear of being raped. While in protective custody, he may spend an hour of recreation in an enclosed cage and inmates will stick their penises through the bars, threatening to hurt him if he doesn’t perform oral sex.
He may get beaten into submission and eventually he may sell himself around on weekends just like whore women of the streets.
Being raped, or “turned out,” redefines him as female; he must assume that role as the property of his conqueror or whoever claimed him and arranged his emasculation.
After multiple rapes, he may finally find an inmate to protect him from others in exchange for an exclusive right to sex. The inmate may refer to him as Jane or some other female name. He might force him to wear makeup and shave his legs. And there will be a jar of Vaseline.
Without a husband to protect him, Keith will be raped by cellmates and strangers, forced to perform oral sex, and will brush his teeth twice to get the taste of semen and cock out of his mouth. If he has anal bleeding he will try to get painkillers. I
Men will be going in and out of his cell and guards will not intervene. Prisoners will corner him in his cell and rape him. They’ll figure out his schedule—when he will be alone in his cell, or in the shower.He will be called “fuckboy,”. He will try to resist, but not too hard. He doesn’t want to get stabbed.
He will develop strategies to avoid being attacked; try to get in the shower—with a dozen shower heads and no privacy—alone before the afternoon shift change, when the prison locks down and nobody can move from where they are. But he will not succeed.
In a few days, three inmates will find him alone in the shower. One will keep an eye on the hallway while the other two take turns holding him down and penetrating him.

I doubt very much that Raniere will get assigned to the prison in Arizona. Actually, I think he has a better chance of getting assigned to the underground facility in Colorado than the Arizona facility.

Frank may have a different opinion but I doubt that Raniere will be assigned to a special facility that offers special services to sex offenders. That’s because (a) Sex Trafficking is very different from the types of sex-related crimes that most prisoners in those facilities have committed; and (b) Raniere has been convicted of several other crimes that have nothing to do with sex. I still think that Raniere will be assigned to a maximum-security federal facility within 500 miles of Albany, NY.
These are the 3 maximum security federal prisons that are the nearest to Albany NY. These are the only maximum security federal prisons in the NE region of the USA.

I do not see any special sex offender programs mentioned for these facilities. I do not think that the Federal Bureau of Prisons will consider keeping Raniere near the state of NY unless he actually has blood relatives that would actually come to visit him. We know he doesn’t have a wife and that his child is down in Mexico, I have no idea about his parents and he has no siblings.
There is no way the prison officials will care if his former “slaves” want to visit him, and the convenience of them to do so from Albany NY. However, those completely brainwashed would be happy, I’m sure, to follow him from prison to prison around the country. Remember the ridiculous high speed chase the cult went on when following the Mexican police car Raniere was in? What on earth did they hope to accomplish with that?
The Charles Manson woman “Squeaky” who shot at president Ford, moved around the country to be near all of Manson’s prisons.
Per its own rules, the Bureau of Prisons is supposed to place all new inmates within 500 miles of their last residence unless they are in need of special medical services or special therapeutic services. That’s why I have stated on several occasions that I think Raniere will most likely end up at the Allenwood facility.
Once he’s been placed somewhere, Raniere can certainly request relocation to another prison. But such requests are usually granted only when there is compelling evidence that the proposed relocation is necessary for the prisoner’s health and well being.
Thank you for your research, I thought they went by facility, not location to their home. Az has a special unit for snitches to protect them, I wonder if KR will end up protected or in general population? And I do wonder if he qualifies for the sex offender program? Sorry to burst your little fantasy bubble, Gomer, but Frank and I have never had a conversation about the topic of prison rape. Had we done so, I would have shared with him what I observed during the time that I was at MDC – and what I was told by others who spent time in other prisons.
To begin with, MDC is unlike most prisons because except for the few cadre prisoners there (of which I was one), all the rest are transients: i.e., they’re either Pre-Trial guys or Pre-Sentence guys. The Pre-Trial guys are unlikely to do anything stupid before they reach a plea deal or go to trial – and the Pre-Sentence guys are isolated from everyone else.
Secondly, MDC operates 24-7 at the highest possible level of security – with no outdoor time and very few instances in which prisoners from one unit come into contact with prisoners from another unit. In sum, MDC operates much more like the ADX Florence prison – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ADX_Florence – than most other federal maximum-security prisons in the U.S.
While rapes at MDC are rare, they do happen. There were several while I was there.
And from what I was told by prisoners who spent time at other federal prisons, rapes happen much more frequently in those environments.
Given how poorly Raniere has fared at MDC, I would say he has a higher than average chance of being raped wherever he ends up. While that’s partly due to his attitude and mannerisms, it’s mostly due to his inability or unwillingness to defend himself when confronted by the threat of physical violence.

Prison rape shouldn’t be joked about, Frank. If you think that some sort of justice is meted out in prison, you are sadly mistaken. My brother was only 18 years old when he was raped, before he hanged himself. This extremely detailed description makes it look like you had a lot of fun writing this and you offered zero suggestion as to how we could prevent prison rape. As Aerial said, any weak guy is at risk of being raped in prison, even if he was sent to jail by mistake or by a rude judge. This is not justice, just barbarism. I think child rapists should be hanged, but using rape as a weapon or punishmenet is nothing to laugh about.

And, Keith knew very well what he was doing and what was at stake. He even got busted before for an MLM scam? Did he stop and do something different?
