Finally, because it was so hurtful
Toni Natalie wrote a book entitled, The Program: Inside the Mind of Keith Raniere and the Rise and Fall of Nxivm. In it, she claims she was “Patient Zero” for Keith Raniere and Nxivm.
That dubious claim aside, Toni’s book continues to free fall on the Amazon Best Sellers Rank, now ranking at a nearly irrelevant ranking of #303,299 in books, on the website of the world’s largest bookseller. That poor ranking means Toni’s book, which she co-wrote with Chet Hardin, might be selling about one book per week.
At one time, at its pinnacle, Toni’s book hit #68,543 on Amazon – which meant it was still doing poorly – at about 5 sales per week. In short, the book failed to attract readers, despite its boastful title and fanciful stories.
What is interesting about the failure of her book is that it’s, in a sense, ‘cheater’s proof’. Toni did her best to prevent me from contacting a number of sources, so she could hog them for her book – and what she hoped would be a follow-up podcast show. She went out of her way to prevent me from doing investigations into a number of matters – so she could get stories exclusively for her book and podcast show.
The irony is I wound up reaching all the sources she tried to block me from and Toni’s book – announced to great fanfare – fell flatter than an ugly, Botox enhanced pancake.
Toni Natalie, while pretending to be my friend and co fighter in the fight to bring justice to Keith Raniere, was secretly backbiting me at every turn. One of the most important sources Toni did her best to prevent me from speaking to was the family of Kristin Snyder.
My goal was not to write a book to profit off of them, but to sincerely try to find out what happened to Kristin. I even made a film with Discovery ID, which airs on Sunday, Dec. 8, at 9 PM ET – not for money – but to get their backing and imprimatur on the investigation.
The network worked with me as I traveled to Alaska, Washington, Texas, Albany, New York City, Sarasota, the Florida Keys and elsewhere to try to find out what happened.
Along the way, I made some startling discoveries, but the whole time I was filming, Toni did her best to block access to Kristin’s family who could have helped me much in the investigation. [She also tried to block access to Kristin’s spouse, Heidi Clifford.]
Despite Toni’s best efforts at keeping the Snyder family and myself apart, I was able to make contact with them and it’s fair to say they no longer have anything to do with Toni Natalie [whose sister, Kim, refers to, as do others, as Toni Nata-LIE].
Toni’s strategy in keeping us apart was similar to her overall strategy: Keep people apart and make them go through her.
Toni often bragged – although at the time she said it to me I had no idea how invidious her agenda was – that, “While not everyone in Nxivm speaks to each other, everyone talks to Toni Natalie.”
[As an aside, I recall I once told Toni – because I trusted her at the time – that I was going to finally interview a certain gentleman for the first time on the record. She applauded, congratulated and encouraged me. Behind my back, which I only recently learned, she called the man’s wife, whom she knew, and advised her to tell her husband not to speak to me. It could be dangerous, she said.]
Toni kept the Snyder family from speaking to me by telling them I was a bad man, a dangerous man, not to be trusted. She told them they should put their trust in her. She would handle the media and get law enforcement interested in reopening the Kristin Snyder case.
“And, by all means,” she told them, “don’t ever talk to Frank Parlato.”
I would not have minded this so much if she was openly my enemy. But she pretended to be my friend, trying to work with me in helping solve the mysteries and crimes of Keith Raniere.
Meantime, as Toni pretended to be my friend, telling me she was trying to get me an interview with the Snyder family, she told me that Kristin’s mother was very old and nearly senile, just waiting to hop in the grave, a woman who wanted to hear no more about what happened to her daughter, but only to forget.
Toni also told me that Kim, Kristin’s sister, was, unfortunately, “mentally retarded” and incapable of helping me find anything out about Kristin, let alone being interviewed.
When I finally met Jonnie and Kim, I found Jonnie to be vibrant, healthy, attractive, a woman who very much wants to know what happened to her daughter. I found Kim to be bright and precocious, although she has had physical challenges in her life.
Unlike Toni, Kim never gave up her son and is raising him.
When Kim found out what Toni had been telling me and other people – that she was retarded, Kim was hurt and angry.
She was hurt to learn Toni had also told these same disgusting lies to Joe O’Hara.
She was pleased when Joe, who was the former commissioner of Social Services for the State of Missouri, offered to interview her and pen a letter regarding his opinion of Toni’s claim that she is mentally retarded.
For the first time in print, below is Joe’s letter to Kim.
I am publishing this because Kim wanted this published, preferably before we continue to disclose more information about her missing sister, which Kim has worked with me to procure on a nearly daily basis.
Kim,
I just wanted to confirm that my belief that Toni Natalie’s allegation that you are “retarded” is baseless, unwarranted and wrong.
To begin with, I doubt very much that Toni even understands what the term means – and how it’s used from a scientific standpoint to identify a certain group of people. Instead, she probably uses the term to describe anyone who is simply different from her.
In your case, the label is entirely inappropriate. As your work – and your parenting skills attest – you do not have a low IQ. Nor do you demonstrate any of the characteristics or traits of someone who is truly retarded.
Having worked for many years in the fields of child welfare and special education, I believe that I am much more qualified than the average person to understand what the term “retarded” means. In this regard, that is not a term that I would ever associate with someone who has your capacities and skills.
While Toni’s behavior in this instance is inexcusable, I think it best that you treat it in the same way you would treat the ramblings of any other uninformed and ill-intentioned person. In other words, just ignore it – and move on with your life.

I think it is fair to record that not only I, but Joe O’Hara, who has had considerable experience in the field of human welfare, believe that Kim’s assistance is valuable, that she is far from the incompetent person Toni claimed she was, and that she is emphatically not mentally retarded.
Toni told Joe and me that she was only interested in protecting Kim from predatory media and other kinds of vultures. As I analyze it now, Kim has been much more helpful than Toni overall, and, as far as vultures are concerned, if the mug fits, one should wear it.

No matter what anyone says, lies like these about anyone’s mental capacity, about someone’s good character and even about their emotional “statures” HURT and can be very distressing. Block and tackle! What Toni has done and said has been shown now and certainly, she has been actively using the trust of others to do harm, and her dishonest tactics and antics have been demonstrated, over and over again, to be habitually and deliberately machiavellian.
If anything like this has been done to you, you don’t forget it. Yes, you can overcome, personally. But you also learn that really, nothing can be repaired, when anyone minus a healthy conscience has been the instigator of lies, of so much harmfulness. Trust is finished and for very good reasons. You make sure that you don’t go back for any more of the same. There is no pleasure in finding out that someone is a bewilderingly false friend and a liar, a cheat, a “lost cause.”
It is unconscionable behavior to anyone who wants to find out the truth and who works to come from a position of integrity. Unfortunately, most honest people do not expect people like Toni Natalie to come along and to dirty the waters. But one learns. It only makes you stronger, yet it’s inner growth that comes from some pain, not from joy.
Even if you have met a Toni before, there’s a tendency not to be suspicious of others who appear as friends or colleagues, as in Frank Parlato’s and Joe O’Hara’s experience with Toni. The list of people who have been deceived by Toni Natalie grows and grows, though. It doesn’t even seem to matter how personal or intimate or even familial the circumstances have been, beware of Toni Natalie, sugar on shit. Now it all comes back to haunt her, permanently.
She has made herself into a hopeless case, singlehandedly and has no credibility left, at all. This ends up being good but in an ironic way. Toni, however, won’t repair her damages, because it’d take a miracle, and Toni has run out of having good character or any reliability. Who can she screw with now? Only new naive people who haven’t heard about Toni Natalie, whom she can begin to target?
Every recounting from people who have been involved with her contains a substantial and often, a long story of being lied to and being used, all for Toni Natalies capricious advantage, despite what she was doing to anyone else. Damage someone’s reputation? Keep people from really helping one another? Present one lie after another, arrogantly and stupidly? Well, this looks like Toni’s major methodology.
So here is one long sideshow about a semi-functional personality disorder and about an individual who has been out to do harm. She cannot even help herself, it seems. Think it over, how come?
It’s doubtful that Toni Natalie will ever be capable of seeing these facts about herself. She has been an abuser, through and through. That’s how come her situation feels beyond any reparation. But at least Toni Natalie has been stopped in her tracks, for now.
Still, exposing her nasty, vicious game-playing does not sweep away the damages which she has left behind, in the wake of her manipulations. Some will have long memories about the troubled path of Toni.
What Toni Natalie has earned is the opposite of what she has wanted. She has been deviously looking for self-aggrandizement, but nature has not allowed her to create a vacuum, wherein Toni Natalie is its sole proprietess. Her whorehouse has lost its clientele. Her tea, coffee, cookies and whiskey are rancid. By negating the reliability and even the experience of others, existentially, she has negated herself. This is how justice has slapped her in the face, disfiguring her responsively and as the result of her own actions.
Her particular lying was done to block genuine communication and investigation but also has especially belittled two innocent peoples’ intelligence and coping abilities. Toni Natalie didn’t even know Kristin Snyder’s family, and look what she has done to them.
Kristin has had only one mother and one sister, and both were falsely described, with calculated cruelty, indifference. Why? For the benefit of only one hanger-on, a person who stuck her untrue words and her Pinocchio nose between so many others’ business and who just kept lying and lying to everyone and anyone who was perceived by Natalie as being in her way.
Then there is that double-edged sword, used by Toni Natalie upon (quite apparently) many different people individually, and the technique employed is especially insidious. Pretending to someone’s face to be a friend, an ally and supporter of finding the truth, and then Natalie went behind the backs of “her friends” and acquaintances to disparage them to one another.
Those who are “over” hearing about Toni Natalie, fine and oh-so- Tom Terrific. Move the hell on and forget it. Nobody has any gun to your heads, to either keep reading or to offer ineffectual, griping commentary.
But Toni isn’t dead yet. The recounting of who Toni really has been and is has not only exposed her. This is a genuine warning label, to protect anyone who doesn’t already have firsthand experience about Toni Natalie’s decisive state of toxicity.
One of my own brothers was born with such severe handicaps as to have never reached beyond the capacities of a one year old. That’s right. He cannot even feed himself or communicate much at all. Even his ability to walk at all can be credited to one grandma’s dedication, determination, constancy everyday when he was little with getting him walking. She spent hours each day helping him to walk.
I cannot begin to express how deeply painful and outrageous it has been to hear of what Toni has said and done. I will always love my little brother. There are no words. Our brother! No one could be more innocent. For the love of God, where is even the least scrap of respect? How our family dreamed and dreamed that maybe he could improve. And we have needed and wanted him to feel loved, to be safe, to grow, to be nourished. It has been tough and nobody was a hero. Acceptance is everything, deep in the heart. There isn’t a way to describe what our innocent brother has GIVEN to those of us who have known him. Each life is unique, that’s all.
Yet Toni Natalie has smugly lied and even about the death of her brother. She has treated her brother, her son and people who weren’t even in her acquaintanceship like the ogress that she has proven herself to be.
Perhaps the only thing golden to come out of Toni Natalie would be silence.

Re The Snyder family and Frank’s investigation:
On nearly every Kristin Snyder article comment thread, one if not multiple readers have commented along the lines of “Writing articles and posting comments regarding Kristin is unfair and cruel to the Snyder family”.
Clearly, the Snyder family is onboard with Frank’s investigation. The Snyder family appreciates Frank’s efforts.
The Snyder family has the right to know if their daughter was murdered or driven to suicide.
Law enforcement stopped investigating and did not follow all the leads. More information has come out!
If it were my sister who died, I would not mind if an outsider was willing to take the time to thoroughly comb threw the facts regarding my sister’s death.

Meteorically speaking, Frank has given me an onion to peal back one smelly layer at a time.
NiceGuy, sorry to be slow in adding my two cents’ worth – I hope you catch this.
I’m not so certain that the Snyder family necessarily appreciates the sensational speculation, or is “onboard” with anything more than exposing NXIVM’s likely – and Raniere’s possibly – negligent role in Snyder’ deteriorating mental condition that lead up to her disappearance. They may not appreciate speculation beyond that, any more than NXIVM’s conspiracy theory that Snyder just faked her death to escape from drug dealers (a theory about as worthy of consideration, and “investigation,” as any other).
And then there is also the person who is, effectively, Kristen Snyder’s widow, the person most directly affected and the one who would be in the best position to answer some of the critical questions, who for some reason gets treated as someone hardly worth taking into account.
Part of what bothers me is that I don’t think a thorough combing through of the facts – including consideration of all the various possibilities in Snyder’s case, if the official findings are to be questioned – is quite what is going on.
There is a lot more to it than just the Kristin Snyder case. It’s a conspiracy theory with many legs. While it is doable to individually pick everything apart, the totality of the situation is, at best, troubling.
Toni lost the battle when she started calling Kim retarded. She could have been on the winning team but, instead, chose to be nasty and backbite Frank. Teamwork is what it took to get Raniere. Any one person thinking they are doing this for glory and fame is foolish. I’ve noticed that Frank gives credit when and where it’s due.
