A Lot Going on for Jussie Smollett – and a Good Chance He’ll End Up In Prison

Jussie Smollett

These are busy, busy times for Jussie Smollett, the one-time co-star of the Empire show.

*****

Civil Lawsuit

He is currently fighting a $130,000 civil lawsuit that was filed by the City of Chicago, IL to recover the expenses it incurred in investigating what it claims was a phony claim he filed about being assaulted by two men back in January.

No date has been set for the trial.

*****

His Character Has Been Written Out of Empire & He Lost A Broadway Gig

His character, Jamal Lyon, was written off near the end of season five of the Empire show – and did not return for the sixth and final season of the show. For some reason, Smollett was paid his full salary for both seasons anyway.

Jussie Smollett as Jamal Lyon

He also lost a Broadway gig when the producers of a new play called Take Me Out decided to hire someone else for the role he was going to play.

The guy is clearly toxic as far as producers go.

*****

Comparison to Girl Involved in Virginia Hoax

He was recently compared to a 12-year-old Virginia girl who falsely claimed that three of her white male classmates had held her down and cut off some of her dreadlocks – only to recant the entire story the next day and admit she had cut them off to force her grandmother to let her get a new hairstyle.

In a recent Shaderoom Instagram post, social media critic Derrick Johnson compared the 12-year-old girl to Smollett – and called the actor a trendsetter for liars.

Smollett fired back with his usual slick bravado.

“With all due respect brother, y’all can clown me all you want but my story has actually never changed and I’ve never lied about a thing. Y’all can continue to be misinformed sheep, who believe what actual proven liars feed you or you can read the actual docs. Either way, Imma be alright. I know me and what happened. You don’t. So carry on. All love”.

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit Copies Jussie’s Story

Tonight’s season kick-off episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit will feature a case in which a celebrity is accused of faking an assault in New York City – and the resulting media frenzy. You can watch a trailer for tonight’s show at  https://www.thefader.com/2019/10/08/law-and-order-svu-jussie-smollett

The Real Problem Is Dan Webb

Notwithstanding all the other things going on in his life, Smollett’s biggest problem is Dan Webb, a veteran Chicago lawyer and former U.S. Attorney, who was appointed as a Special Prosecutor – and asked to determine whether the original 16 felony charges against Smollett should have been dismissed and whether any other charges should be filed against him or anyone else.

Dan Webb

While the possibility of new criminal charges being filed became a reality as soon as Webb was appointed as Special Prosecutor, the likelihood of that happening increased exponentially when the two men who claim that Smollett hired them to fake the attack met with Webb this week.

Earlier this year, Abel and Ola Osundairo claimed that Smollett paid them $3,500 to fake an attack on him while he was out walking in the early morning hours of a frigid day in Chicago.

Osundario Brothers

According to Smollett, he was attacked by two men wearing MAGA hats who started by shouting anti-gay and racist slurs at him – and then put a noose around his neck, poured bleach on him and physically assaulted him.

Chicago Police who investigated the case quickly determined that Smollett had hired the two brothers to stage the attack as part of his attempt to get a salary increase from the producers of Empire.

Smollett was eventually charged with 16 felony counts of disorderly conduct – which is how the crime of filing a false police report is categorized in Illinois.

All of the charges were later dropped by First Assistant Cook County State Attorney Joe Magats – who was appointed to the non-existent position of Acting Cook County State Attorney by his boss, Kimberly Foxx.

Kimberly Foxx

In a statement that was released at the time the charges were dropped, the Office of the Cook County State Attorney said: “An alternative disposition does not mean that there were any problems or infirmities with the case or the evidence. We stand behind the Chicago Police Department’s investigation and our decision to approve charges in this case. We did not exonerate Mr. Smollett. The charges were dropped in return for Mr. Smollett’s agreement to do community service and forfeit his $10,000 bond to the City of Chicago.”

In the ensuing uproar, several prominent public officials spoke out about the dismissal of the charges.

“This is without a doubt, a whitewash of justice and sends a clear message that if you are in a position of influence and power you’ll get treated one way, other people will be treated another way”, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel said. “From top to bottom, this is not on the level”.

Forner Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel

Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson was even more blunt. “When we discovered the actual motive, quite frankly, it pissed everybody off”, Johnson said. “I’m offended by what’s happened, and I’m also angry. I love the City of Chicago and the Chicago Police Department, warts and all. But this publicity stunt was a scar Chicago didn’t earn and certainly didn’t deserve”.

Dan Webb Will Recommend Prosecution

Once Dan Webb was appointed to serve as Special Prosecutor in the case, Smollett’s fate was sealed.

And now that Webb has met with the Osundairo brothers for two hours each, it seems clear that he’s moving forward as quickly as possible in his investigation.

The Osundairo brothers were reportedly granted immunity by the Cook County State Attorney’s Office during the initial investigation. And they damn sure will get a similar deal when Webb recommends that the original state charges be reinstated – and/or that new state or federal charges be filed in the case.

I think it’s inevitable that Jussie Smollett will be prosecuted and convicted – and that he’ll end up serving some time in prison.

It probably won’t be more than 2-3 years – which is much less than I think he deserves.

But it will definitely send a message…

Whats the message you hope it will send? People are repeating things without thinking. Is the message that people who are accused of filing fake hate crime reports should go to prison for a LONG time??? That will certainly improve the energy in this country… ???

Chicago is, of course, known as a bastion of virtuous and forthright government – and unwavering commitment to justice, truth and freedom – as demonstrated in deferred prosecution for this poor victim of pseudo-oppression.
Also, Keith Raniere is the most intelligent, savvy and ethical human who ever walked the planet.
Also, I can blow sunshine, rainbows and flowers out my arse!

The real story here is the staggering realities in Chicago — which the PC press and politicos won’t discuss:

*Smollett walking in Chi-Town is 30 times more likely to be gunned down by another black man than be a victim of a hate crime.
*He’s 70 times more likely to be gunned down by another black man than by a cop.
*Chicago has the strictest gun control measures in the US — yet highest gun violence. Gun control as effective deterrence is a myth.
*40% of black males in Chicago age 20-24 are out of work and out of school – highest in US
*90% of black youth in Chicago age 16-19 are jobless – Highest in US
*Only 15% of fatal black shooting cases are ever cleared – Lowest in US – Witnesses fear gang retribution.
*Chicago has 59 active street gangs – with over 2,000 semi-autonomous factions – and more than 100,000 gang members.
*72% of black children are born out of wedlock – raised by single mothers – 49% in poverty – 5 times more likely to end up in prison.

Reality is not racist. This fictional radical right racial hate crime – speciously attributed to Trump and his imagined “white supremacist” followers – and condemned with righteous indignation by PC press and politicos — is naught but an absurd myth.
While ignoring the staggering human adversity in Chicago — tragically insures its perpetuation. .

“The core problem in our society is political correctness. Not income inequality, racism or sexism, but the value narrowing thought control of identity politics and other PC precepts.” – P. Thiel

This case is also an example of an effect and bias that occurs broadly in society, and particularly in high control groups or cults, in-group bias or favoritism –

Your Bias Is: in-group bias

“You unfairly favor those who belong to your group.
We presume that we’re fair and impartial, but the truth is that we automatically favor those who are most like us, or belong to our groups. This blind tribalism has evolved to strengthen social cohesion, however in a modern and multicultural world it can have the opposite effect.

Try to imagine yourself in the position of those in out-groups; whilst also attempting to be dispassionate when judging those who belong to your in-groups.”

https://yourbias.is/in-group-bias

In-group favoritism

“In-group favoritism, sometimes known as in-group–out-group bias, in-group bias, or intergroup bias, is a pattern of favoring members of one’s in-group over out-group members. This can be expressed in evaluation of others, in allocation of resources, and in many other ways.[1][2]

This effect has been researched by many psychologists and linked to many theories related to group conflict and prejudice. The phenomenon is primarily viewed from a social psychology standpoint. Studies have shown that in-group favoritism arises as a result of the formation of cultural groups.[3][4] These cultural groups can be divided based on seemingly trivial observable traits, but with time, populations grow to associate certain traits with certain behaviour, increasing covariation. This then incentivises in-group bias.”

Kid, when I was a juvenile I used to consider that – putting a bunch of it in the food or drink of some smart ass. But even then I knew it was actually wrong, and it’s stupid to think that way. That’s the kind of thing a cultist stripped of all their humanity would do, like Clare Bronfman’s minions.

Krclaviger,

I prophesize Smollett and Mack will be doing pornographic pictorials in the not so distant future……

And at this exact moment somewhere else in the world…..

…..Bangkok has just read my prophecy and is “aroused” with glee at the mere prospect of Smollett and Mack baring it all.

****

BTW Krclaviger, there have been many white women who have gone unpunished for falsely accusing or reporting men for rape.

Why should Jussie Smollett be held to a higher standard, because he is a black man or because he is gay? (Sarcasm)

We had a big story in the Dallas area over the past couple of weeks, a white woman cop was convicted of murdering a black man when when she mistakenly entered what she thought was her apartment after work and shot him. But it was his apartment. Then, a few days after the verdict, one of the witnesses, another black guy who heard the shots, was murdered. He didn’t even want to testify, because he had been shot a year earlier. The “civil rights” crowd went crazy, saying it was a revenge murder, but it turned out three black guys drove to Dallas from Alexandria, LA for a drug deal that went bad. The “civil rights” crowd hasn’t been seen or heard of since.

I think Smollett’s case is somewhat interesting because of similarities to those of some of the people in NXIVM; it doesn’t quite make sense based on what we know so far, and leaves room to wonder, for instance, whether he’s just crazy or mentally deficient in some way, somehow thought there was some justifiable purpose to what he did, or whether there’s something yet to be revealed that will provide a more satisfactory explanation.

It’s also apparently an example of how social groups tend to protect their own, particularly those of some sort of perceived status, whether it is in Chicago or Albany, or towns and cities almost anywhere. That’s a throwback to our evolution out of small hunter-gatherer tribal groups, and related to some of the same sorts of behavioral tendencies that get people into cults – it’s no accident that such groups typically try to feature celebrities such as actors both to help them recruit, and to attempt to convey an impression of legitimacy by association.

But what is it that makes Smollett’s case particularly worth reporting on here, compared to many other cases and issues?

Some people are apparently viewing this case through a racial lens, and yet that itself is just an example of tribal and culty tendencies.

Here’s the real Jussie Smollett joke this week.

Chicago lawyer Tina Tchen, a Chicago fixer who boasts close ties to Michelle Obama, has just been named the new head of “Time’s Up” a feminist group.
The rumor is that Tin.a Tchen is the person who interfered with State’s Attorney Kim Foxx to get all charges against Jussie Smollett dropped.

“Chicago Attorney Who Interfered In Jussie Smollet Probe Tapped to Run ‘Time’s Up’ Women’s Org
By TOBIAS HOONHOUT
October 7, 2019 3:50 PM

“Tina Tchen, a Chicago attorney who served as Michelle Obama’s chief-of-staff, was tapped as the new chief executive of the national advocacy organization “Time’s Up” on Monday.

“[We’re going to] work hard at the root cause of sexual harassment: because sexual harassment occurs when we have workplaces that aren’t diverse, that aren’t inclusive, that don’t respect their workers,” Tchen said in the announcement on Twitter. “And so we’re going to work with companies, with employers, with employees to make those workplaces ones that are safe, respectful, and where everyone can reach their full potential.”

Tchen played a key role in the dropping of 16 felony charges against actor Jessie Smollett, who falsely claimed to be the target of a racially-motivated attack.

Per reporting from the Chicago Sun Times, Tchen, reportedly at the request of Smollett’s family, texted Cook County state attorney Kim Foxx to ask that she persuade Chicago Police Department superintendent Eddie Johnson to turn Smollett’s case over to the FBI. Tchen claims she made the request out of a desire to prevent media leaks.

Just days after Smollett claimed the crime had occurred, Foxx replied to Tchen saying she had made her case to Eddie Johnson, who ultimately refused to relinquish control over the probe.

“OMG this would be a huge victory,” Tchen wrote in response to a text message from Foxx. “I make no guarantees,” Foxx answered, “but I’m trying.”

I’m thrilled that @TIMESUPNOW named @TinaTchen—one of the most brilliant and purposeful leaders I’ve ever worked with—as its new president and CEO. I’ve seen how Tina’s hustle and intellect can transform policies and touch lives, and I can’t wait to see her thrive in this role!

I guess all that’s wrong in America is now the fault of white men.
Especially white men who wear red MAGA hats.

Your welcome.
The Obamas are only slightly less dirty than the Clintons.

Obama posed as a reformer but to people in the know, Barack Obama had (has) lots of ties to both Chicago’s Democratic Machine and Chicago’s business elites.

Juicy Smollett is a laughingstock. He’s the Rosie Ruiz of hate-crime victims.

The case against him was dropped for political reasons. Maybe he should be prosecuted, maybe not; the optics of prosecuting a black man for this frankly suck. Send him to prison on a disorderly conduct charge? Really? Disorderly conduct is a chicken-shit rap. Sending him to prison on it, a nonviolent first offender, is about the only thing that could make this clown look like a hero.

Just let it go. Laugh at the fool and let it go.

This isn’t his first offense: https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2019/feb/19/jussie-smollett-was-convicted-providing-false-info/ and his first offense also included lying. The judicial system does not take kindly to liars, and for good reason, it’s like throwing sand into gears.

For all of the grief that Rahm Emanuel received as Mayor of Chicago, and he deserved some of it, he did try his level best to be honest and fair.

Webb’s last case as Special Prosecutor was the prosecution of a man named Richard Vanecko, the nephew of Mayor Richard M. Daley and grandson of Mayor Richard J. Daley.
In 2004 Vanecko murdered a young man named David Koschman outside a River North bar quite close to where Jussie Smollett pulled his stunt.
\It was a drunken brawl and Vanecko threw the only punch.
Koschman’s head hit the sidewalk and he died of a hematoma in the nearby Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
By the way Vanecko’s father was a surgeon at Northwestern Hospital.
Before the cops arrived Vanecko ran off and the witnesses were too drunk or too friendly with Vanecko to tell the truth.

The police even managed top lose their case files on the death.
In 2011 after Emanuel became Mayor the case files mysteriously reappeared.
Some people believe that honest cops deliberately hid the case files so that the powerful Daley family would not destroy them.
With investigative help from the Chicago Sun-Times Dan Webb was appointed Special Prosecutor and the witnesses magically recovered their memories.
Richard Vanecko was prosecuted for involuntary manslaughter and convicted receiving a paltry two month sentence.
But at least there was some measure of justice.

“WHO KILLED DAVID KOSCHMAN?”
http://projects.suntimes.com/koschman/sun-times-investigation/who-killed-david-koschman/

“City may pay $250,000 to mother of man killed in fight with Daley nephew”
“In a surprise move, the city of Chicago is poised to pay $250,000 to the mother of David Koschman to settle her lawsuit accusing authorities of a cover-up of her son’s 2004 death after a drunken altercation with a member of the powerful Daley family.

The proposed settlement with Nanci Koschman is scheduled to be discussed at Monday’s monthly Finance Committee meeting at City Hall, according to an agenda for the meeting posted online Friday.”

Wow…$250K seems awfully cheap for his death.

For once, the city of Chicago stood up and didn’t fear the truth, and I Aagree, it is most surprising with Emmanuel..( makes me wonder “ why?”)

I hope Dan Webb can provide the fair and just perspective this case needs.

Additionally, Parlato’s coverage of the group OneTaste, starting in 2018, helped spark an FBI investigation, which led to indictments of two of its leaders in 2023.

Parlato appeared on the Nancy Grace Show, Beyond the Headlines with Gretchen Carlson, Dr. Oz, American Greed, Dateline NBC, and NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt, where Parlato conducted the first-ever interview with Keith Raniere after his arrest. This was ironic, as many credit Parlato as one of the primary architects of his arrest and the cratering of the cult he founded.
