Who Is Jussie Smollett – and How Should He Be Punished?

Jussie Smollett

Unless you’re an avid viewer of the Empire show, you may not have even heard of Jussie Smollett before he falsely claimed earlier this year that he had received a threatening letter – and that he had been assaulted by two strangers because he’s both black and gay.

As it turns out, he’s actually been around the entertainment world for quite some time, having started out as a child actor at the age of 5 in 1987.

His first big film role was as Terry Hall in The Mighty Ducks in 1992 – which was followed by a role as Adam in Rob Reiner’s North in 1994.

The Mighty Ducks

He also appeared as Ricks in Ridley Scott’s science fiction film Alien: Covenant – and as Langston Hughes in Marshall – both of which premiered in 2017.

He and his five siblings – Jake, Jocqui, Jojo, Jurnee and Jazz – all appeared in the ABC sitcom On Our Own, which only lasted one season (1994-1995).

Following the cancellation of the ABC series, Smollett bounced around the entertainment world for the next two decades.

His big break came in 2014 when he was signed to play Jamal Lyon in the Empire series. At the time, his role as a black gay man was hailed as “groundbreaking” – and he was a frequent guest on many talk shows.

The Cast of Empire

In fact, it was during an appearance on Ellen in 2015 that he publicly acknowledged being gay.

Later, in a 2016 interview with Out magazine, he clarified that although he “would label himself a gay man”, he might also become involved romantically with women.

Smollett has also released several single records – and one album – as an R&B singer. His last recording was in 2018.

*****

Earlier Legal Hassle

Prior to the incidents earlier this year, Smollett’s only known encounter with law enforcement was the result of a DUI stop in Los Angels in 2007.

At the time he was stopped, he gave police his brother’s name – and also signed the violation with that name.

He eventually pleaded “No Contest” to driving with a blood-alcohol level over the limit and to not having a valid driver’s license. He was ordered to pay a fine – and placed on 2-years of probation.

*****

The Fake Threatening Letter & Fake Attack

So, what causes a guy who had finally started to make some real money and a name for himself to blow it all by sending himself a fake threatening letter – and, when that didn’t get him enough attention, falsely claiming he was attacked by two men in ski masks who shouted racial and homophonic slurs, physically beat him with their fists and feet, put a noose around his neck, and poured bleach on him?

Well, according to Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson, Smollett was dissatisfied with his salary on Empire – and orchestrated the fake letter and fake attack “to take advantage of the pain and anger of racism to promote his career”.

Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson

Johnson, who is also black, was clearly pissed when he held a news conference to discuss the matter.

“I’m left hanging my head and asking why,” a very emotional Johnson told reporters. “Why would anyone, especially an African-American man, use the symbolism of a noose to make false accusations? How could someone look at the hatred and suffering associated with that symbol… how can an individual who has been embraced by the city of Chicago turn around and slap everyone in this city by making this false claim?”

Johnson also made it clear that he thought Smollett should apologize for what he’s done – and offer to pay back the city of Chicago for the time and money it had wasted on investigating his false claims.

“As a black man, who spent his entire life living in the city of Chicago, I know the racial divide that exists here. I know how hard it’s been for our city and our nation to come together,” Johnson said. He went on to note that “absolute justice would be an apology to this city that he smeared….admitting what he did and then be man enough to offer what he should offer up in terms of all the resources that were put into this.”

Chicago police investigators have stated that they have clear and convincing evidence that both the threatening letter and the attack were fake.

That evidence includes, but is not limited to, the following
– A copy of the check that Smollett used to pay Abimbola “Abel” and Olabinjo “Ola” Osundairo, the two brothers who staged the fake attack;
– A receipt from the store where they bought the rope that was used to make the noose;
– Phone records to show the extensive communications between Smollett and the Osundairo brothers – including calls an hour before and an hour after the attack; and
– Grand jury testimony from both brothers.

*****

So, Why Won’t Smollett Just Admit What He Did?

Faced with all that evidence, the vast majority of people would simply admit what they did, apologize for being an asshole, and ask for forgiveness.

But not Jussie Smollett.

Jussie Smollett: Arrogant Asshole

Nope, not only has he refused to do any of those things, he’s also criticized the Chicago Police for taking so long to investigate his false claims and find the Osundairo brothers.

In one of the latest filings in the civil case that the City has filed against him to get reimbursed for the $130,000 it spent on the case, Smollett’s attorney claims that even if Jussie did file a false report, he had no way of knowing the police would undertake an investigation – and certainly no way of knowing they’d spend 2,000 hours doing so.

“The mere fact somebody filed a police report doesn’t presume an investigation will be done and certainly not to the extent of what the city is claiming”, Smollett’s attorney wrote. “Jussie Smollett had no control over that”, he added.

Unfuckingbelievable!

*****

So What’s a Fair Punishment for Jussie Smollett?

I personally believe that we incarcerate way too many people in the U.S. (Although we represent only 5% of the world’s population, we have 22% of its prisoners).

But I’m willing to make exceptions in some cases – especially when the defendant is so arrogant and disconnected from the real world.

Having the City of Chicago get a judgment against Smollett for the $130,000 – and, hopefully, its attorney fees – will simply not be justice in this case.

Especially not when you add in the fact Fox Entertainment decided to pay Smollett for the current season of Empire even though he will not appear in any episodes.

Nope… This arrogant asshole should spend at least 6-12 months in a state or federal prison – and then have to perform at least 2,000 hours of community service when he gets out.

At least that’s what I think would be fair in this case!

What say you, Frank Report readers?

Jussie Smollett needs to be punished. If the two men were convicted on his testimony, they would have to serve jail time. He should serve the same sentence. Stop trying to excuse him!

Jussie Smollett is a Professional Victim.
When he got his ass caught in a crack what did he do?
Play the Race Card and Play the Gay Card.
America will be destroyed by the Professional Victims.

Do you want to blow a Liberal’s mind?
Say these five simple words:

“Islam is Right About Women.”

Either way you stand on this statement it liberals’ heads explode.
If you agree you are misogynistic.
If you disagree you are Islamophobic.

And Liberals are so full of cognitive dissonance that they support both Islam and women’s rights.
Islam and women’s rights are mutually exclusive to sane, normal people.

More history from the conspiracy kooks.

Pizza Connection Trials Established RICO Statutes and Took Down Mafia Heroin Ring Operating from Pizza Joints — Southern District NY Attorney for Trial and Investigation > Rudy Giuliani

The Pizza Connection Trial stands as the longest criminal jury trial in the federal courts in U.S. history The trial began on September 30, 1985 and ended with convictions of all but one of the 22 defendants on March 2, 1987.

SCOPE

The trial centered on a Mafia-run enterprise that distributed vast quantities of heroin and cocaine in the United States, and then laundered the cash before sending it back to the suppliers in Sicily. The U.S. defendants utilized a number of independently owned pizza parlors as fronts for narcotics sales and collections – hence the name “Pizza Connection”. Evidence at the trial proved that the enterprise shipped no less than $1.6 billion of heroin to the U.S. between 1975 and April 1984. Arrests of scores of conspirators were coordinated in the U.S., Italy, Switzerland and Spain on April 9, 1984, following the capture of Gaetano Badalamenti and several family members the previous day in Madrid, Spain. Badalamenti was the former boss of the Sicilian Mafia, and a key supplier of heroin and cocaine to the U.S. Mafia distributors.

The arrests were carried out by U.S. authorities, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the U.S. Customs Service and the New York City Police Department, who worked in extremely close cooperation with the Italian National Police and prosecutors, as well as the Swiss authorities. The arrests followed a two-year investigation carried out by U.S. and Italian authorities who shared highly sensitive information and agreed to coordinate their efforts to strike the U.S./Italian mafia-narcotics business.

DEFENDANTS

Thirty-eight mafia members and associates were originally indicted in the case, and 35 were named in the charges presented to the jury. Of those 35, 4 were convicted in Italy, 4 in Switzerland and 4 were fugitives. Approximately 27 of the defendants were residing in the U.S. at the time of the arrests. Out of those, only 22 defendants ‒ believed to be just a fraction of the number of Mafiosi involved in the scheme ‒ eventually stood trial. Prior to the start of the trial, one defendant was murdered, one died of natural causes and another was murdered during the trial. All were Sicilian born, and many could not speak English. Each defendant had his own attorney for the historic trial, which made the courtroom especially crowded.

VERDICT

Although the case established a record as the longest federal jury trial in a criminal action, the trial judge and the appellate court found that the jury was not confused or overwhelmed by the evidence, but instead conscientiously performed a close examination of the proof. That conclusion was best evidenced when the jury sent a note during deliberations requesting to have evidence relating to one of more than a hundred “acts of racketeering” identified for them. After a review of the evidence, the prosecution and defense acknowledged that no evidence had been presented on that act. Also, the jury was permitted to take into the jury room the transcripts of the wiretapped conversations and charts prepared by the prosecution (which had been subject to objections and review by the court.)

After trial, all but one of the defendants were convicted, and, except for one low-level defendant, those verdicts were affirmed on appeal. During the course of the investigation and trial, the U.S. and Italy entered into new Treaties on Extradition and Mutual Legal Assistance that enabled law-enforcement authorities from both countries to actively cooperate and share information. Those treaties and the “Pizza” case became models that the U.S. has since used to attack organized crime and narcotics trafficking on a global basis.

RUDY ( the Punisher [per Qanon] ) GIULIANI

Rudy Giuliani, who later became Mayor of New York City, was the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York during the investigation and trial of the case, and provided critical support and assistance to the prosecution.>

Thanks for that reminder of the sort of relatively banal conspiracies that do exist – and, typically, ultimately fall apart and are exposed.

From https://www.fbi.gov/news/stories/the-pizza-connection-35th-anniversary-040519

“Thirty-five years ago, in early April 1984, the FBI closed in on a real-life Mafia godfather.

His name was Gaetano Badalamenti, and he was the former top boss of the Sicilian Mafia. Though banished from Sicily by rival mobsters in 1978, Badalamenti had continued to secretly lead one of the world’s most prolific drug cartels. Frequently on the move, he ultimately traveled with his wife and oldest son to Madrid. Pietro Alfano, a nephew who was his top operative in the American Midwest, took a flight from Chicago to meet them.

Little did Badalamenti know that Spanish authorities, acting on information from the FBI, were watching closely. On April 8, Badalamenti and Alfano ventured out onto the streets of Madrid and were quickly taken into custody. His son was arrested soon after.

The next day, the FBI conducted a carefully coordinated roundup of nearly 30 Mafia members and associates who worked with Badalamenti in the United States. Under the leadership of FBI New York, agents in six Bureau offices made arrests and carried out search warrants, seizing drug paraphernalia, large amounts of cash and weapons, and a trove of documents.”

Typically, people involved, or with knowledge, end up being fallible, and either blabbing or turning, from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pizza_Connection_Trial:

“FBI Special Agent Joseph Pistone, better known by his undercover alias “Donnie Brasco” was the initial source for information regarding the “Pizza Connection” (leaked to him in casual conversations by Bonanno family mafiosi Anthony Mirra and Benjamin Ruggiero)
….
Sicilian Mafia cooperator Tommaso Buscetta testified at the trial against his former criminal associates; he had not been part of the Pizza Connection scheme himself, but he helped explain the rules and control of the Mafia, and established the Sicilians’ dominance over the U.S. drug trade in the early 1970s. Buscetta had fled from Italy in the early ’80s when the faction of the mafia with which he was associated lost the battle for control of heroin trafficking, and many of his family members were killed. A close associate of many of the defendants, Buscetta was captured in Brazil shortly after the April 1984 arrests, and then ordered extradited to Italy. On the trip to Italy following his extradition, Buscetta attempted to commit suicide in an effort to protect his family from more killings. The Italian authorities saved him, and Buscetta decided to cooperate. Italian and U.S. authorities coordinated Buscetta’s debriefing and protection, and he was transferred to the U.S., placed in the Witness Protection Program and granted immunity from prosecution for his testimony at the Pizza Connection trial.”

The mafia was undone by those sorts of loose lips and betrayals, including by people who wanted to make deals when facing hard time for other crimes.

In contrast, none of the grandiose, fantastical conspiracy theories, most of which would involve hundreds if not thousands of people (given all the peripheral functionaries necessary to do things down to literally cleaning up) taking the most troubling of secrets to their graves without ever slipping up or wavering, has ever proven to be true.

I think he should head south and visit some plantations. Get a feel for what his ancestors lived through. Feel the heat slaves endured in cotton picking. Eat corn pone, feel the chains and whips used to bound his forefathers. Maybe he should visit the Orlando night club where so many homosexuals were murdered.

It is Politically Incorrect to mention the African role in the Slave Trade.
It is also Politically Incorrect to mention the Muslim role in the Slave Trade.
It is also Politically Incorrect to mention that Great Britain when it outlawed slavery in 1835 used the Royal Navy to shut down the Trans Atlantic slave trade.

I assume we still have trials in this country, right?

While I tend to think he’s guilty, what we’ve seen in the media doesn’t add up to a satisfactory explanation, so I’d want to see what came out at trial before passing judgment, at least as to the severity of his punishment.

Maybe he’s actually just crazy, and would have to put on an insanity defense. Or perhaps he was smoking too much loco weed, and thought up a crazy sort of conspiracy theory – I think we know how that goes.

Thinking it through, the way this works on the other side of the unfortunate racial divide, is that for instance it is all too easy for white women (and children) to falsely blame black men, and be believed:

Susan Smith, Mother Who Killed Kids
“The tragic case attracted worldwide attention and stirred racial tension after Smith initially told police that a black man had carjacked her and kidnapped her children. She tearfully pleaded for the kids to be returned. But nine days later, she admitted she pushed her car down the access ramp of John D. Long Lake with the kids in the back.”

Once again in SC, a non-existent black man is blamed for a crime

Twenty gangsters roaming the streets of downtown Minneapolis beating up on lone whites.

Minnesotans are getting sick and tired of the Liberals in the DFL (Democratic Farmer Labor Party) turning the cities of Minnesota into hell holes in the name of Cultural Diversity.

So now it’s “left wing” to grant people their right to a trial in this country, with the presumption of innocence?

I suppose you give us a glimpse into the mindset of the sort of people who used to join lynch mobs – yet another type of culty thinking.

Speaking of which, remember the Central Park 5 case – and the people who were calling for them to get the death penalty, even spending money to take out ads in newspapers to call for their execution? It turned out they were completely innocent, railroaded and coerced by police (perhaps an example of the sort of undue influence also used in cults), and the person who DNA tests proved committed the crime, and who finally confessed, wasn’t even black.

Back to Smollett, I said I thought it seems to me that he’s likely guilty, I’d just want to better understand what exactly he’s guilty of, and understand his culpability, before passing judgment on his punishment – though it seems pretty clear he owes the city and people of Chicago over $100,000 at a minimum. Is it somehow not damning enough to say I wonder if he might qualify for an insanity defense?

Communities of all types tend to protect their own, and people like them – it’s actually been shows to be a sort of cognitive bias resulting from how our brains evolved during the time our early ancestors lived in small bands – and of course it should be called out whenever it occurs. When it involves the African-American community, I’m on it so much that my left-leaning friends accuse me of being a racist. You know you’re smack dab in the middle when culty thinkers on both sides of an ideological divide, accuse you of being on the other side.

Particularly relevant on this site, if what I know of high control groups and cults holds for other sorts of things, some of the worst abuses occur across the supposed heartland of the country and the Bible Belt in particular, and either never make into the national media, or are completely swept under the rug by “good old boy” style political and law enforcement establishments that make Albany look clean in comparison. Here’s one example that’s been in the news, of a culty Christian group in a small Southern town that operated for years with impunity:

“They kept us as slaves”: AP reveals claims against church

Word of Faith Fellowship head named in fraud scam
https://www.wspa.com/news/word-of-faith-fellowship-head-named-in-fraud-scam/

As with NXIVM, local and state investigations, or reports, including of child abuse, went nowhere for decades until finally the feds got involved.

Scientology also infamously exploits and abuses the unlimited and unregulated religious worker program, receiving something like 40% off all the visas issued every year. There have been no crackdowns on that much-exploited program, or its abuses.

AnonyMaker, a lot of evidence does not add up in the Smollett case. The alleged security cam photos of the brothers buying the rope, etc, do not add up either, because it’s apparent that the photos were taken in a beauty supply store, not a hardware store. I can only assume they purchased items in more than one store, but yet the pic supplied does not fit the narrative supplied by the police.

Additionally, Parlato’s coverage of the group OneTaste, starting in 2018, helped spark an FBI investigation, which led to indictments of two of its leaders in 2023.

Parlato appeared on the Nancy Grace Show, Beyond the Headlines with Gretchen Carlson, Dr. Oz, American Greed, Dateline NBC, and NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt, where Parlato conducted the first-ever interview with Keith Raniere after his arrest. This was ironic, as many credit Parlato as one of the primary architects of his arrest and the cratering of the cult he founded.
