Numerous commenters repeatedly argue on this forum that AllisonMack did nothing wrong. She is a pure victim of the terrible Keith Raniere, the Vanguard of Nxivm.
The United States Department of Justice took a different position and Mack was convicted of racketeering and racketeering conspiracy.
Under the Racketeer Influenced Corrupt Organization Act (RICO) the government has the right to seize any property used in violation of the act.
Mack recently agreed to surrender her Clifton Park townhouse in suburban Albany NY – worth an estimated $230,000 – to the federal government.
The current DOJ policy is to compel forfeiture of any property used for sex trafficking and though Mack – as part of her plea deal – was not convicted of sex trafficking – [she was originally charged with it] she has nevertheless quietly surrendered her townhouse at 7 Generals Way; Clifton Park, New York.
She is currently awaiting sentencing – and federal sentencing guidelines suggest a prison term in the 3-5 year range.

The architecture is typical of townhouses which are built more for cheapness than aesthetics.
They have high cathedral type ceilings which are merely empty space which must be heated in the winter.
The way townhouse and condo ownership is typically arranged, the owner is free to change inside furnishings but is unable to rearrange structural elements like walls and doors.

What would be interesting is to have a better accounting of how she used both residences, and particularly where brandings took place.

I believe the realtor will have to disclose that, though it might depend on New York state law; and it may be hard to find anyone who wants to live in such a place unless it has been completely gutted and rebuilt, so it could end up selling at a steep discount.

I think most buyers would be creeped out by the property’s history unless the place were gutted and rebuilt so that it was essentially new and different, and looked nothing like the pictures associated with Mack and her perverse misdeeds. And even then a new owner would have to worry about gawkers looking for the address, and would get Mack’s junk mail for years if not decades; they probably can’t change the house number in a condo development like that, as is sometimes done with residences that have infamous histories.
However, thinking it through, it might be picked up for closer to asking price by someone intending to rent it out to tentants, who would be less likely to know or care. I still think we’ll see it discounted a fair bit, but particularly in a situation where the government may be involved the realtor probably has to start out asking a price based on comparable sales of units with no stigma, and then demonstrate by letting it sit on the market with no buyers that the price has to be dropped for it to sell.
I suppose that with time the stench will dissipate and the ‘ladies’ (Allison and Nicki) cleaned out the townhouse before the Federal hammer came down.
But the stigma will never entirely go away.
Changing the street number is the easiest solution.
Because the units have common walls it is not easy to remodel without affecting multiple units.
Maybe the Bronfmans or some of the members of NXIVM Mexico will buy it and present it to Allison and Nicki as a gift for services rendered.
I am sure Allison and Nicki will want the unit as a memento of the good old days of screaming women and sizzling flesh.
I doubt that Allison’s parents will want her and her eccentricities in their house after the revelations of the last few years.
I think it’s more about the stigma than any literal stench. Though, at a minimum, the place ought to have the carpets replaced (not just cleaned, which is what it looks like) and be repainted so that it feels brand new and free of any trace of the previous inhabitants.
I haven’t been involved in condo renovation projects in a long time, but I don’t believe there’s anything necessarily preventing an owner from gutting the unit down to the shared walls on either side, plus probably one stack of internal walls that is load bearing for the roof (and even that might be reconfigured). I’d want to get a unit like that at about half price, and completely re-do it so that it was unrecognizable and conformed to whatever design trends are currently popular.
We’ll just have to watch and see what the market says. It may sit for a long time as the price is slowly reduced, as is typical with problem properties like this – or once the clock runs out, it will just be auctioned off.
Yet more financial losses and destruction of wealth thanks to Raniere.

The asking price is very low, (compared to Vancouver prices) A similar property would cost at least $600 000 in the lower mainland. Is the price this low because of who lived there….or is this the current market value?

Yeah, there’s a lot on this blog about AM, but really she is the most incongruous, tragicomic element of this story. And the ex-actress is a big part of the reason this story received so much press attention. It even went international, and was all over the entertainment press worldwide. I guess we have Allison Mack to thank (?) for that.
And when she’s sentenced to prison, whenever that may be, it’ll all hit the fan again. I’ll have my popcorn ready!

The architecture is typical of townhouses which are built more for cheapness than aesthetics.
They have high cathedral type ceilings which are merely empty space which must be heated in the winter.
The way townhouse and condo ownership is typically arranged, the owner is free to change inside furnishings but is unable to rearrange structural elements like walls and doors.
Other townhouses in Knox Woods would look similar.

Does anyone know exactly when she rented the other property? And why did she really have the need for a second place?
What would be interesting is to have a better accounting of how she used both residences, and particularly where brandings took place.
And good luck to whoever has to try to sell a property with such infamous connections. I believe the realtor will have to disclose that, though it might depend on New York state law; and it may be hard to find anyone who wants to live in such a place unless it has been completely gutted and rebuilt, so it could end up selling at a steep discount.

I think most buyers would be creeped out by the property’s history unless the place were gutted and rebuilt so that it was essentially new and different, and looked nothing like the pictures associated with Mack and her perverse misdeeds. And even then a new owner would have to worry about gawkers looking for the address, and would get Mack’s junk mail for years if not decades; they probably can’t change the house number in a condo development like that, as is sometimes done with residences that have infamous histories.
However, thinking it through, it might be picked up for closer to asking price by someone intending to rent it out to tentants, who would be less likely to know or care. I still think we’ll see it discounted a fair bit, but particularly in a situation where the government may be involved the realtor probably has to start out asking a price based on comparable sales of units with no stigma, and then demonstrate by letting it sit on the market with no buyers that the price has to be dropped for it to sell.
I suppose that with time the stench will dissipate and the ‘ladies’ (Allison and Nicki) cleaned out the townhouse before the Federal hammer came down.
But the stigma will never entirely go away.
Changing the street number is the easiest solution.
Because the units have common walls it is not easy to remodel without affecting multiple units.
Maybe the Bronfmans or some of the members of NXIVM Mexico will buy it and present it to Allison and Nicki as a gift for services rendered.
I am sure Allison and Nicki will want the unit as a memento of the good old days of screaming women and sizzling flesh.
I doubt that Allison’s parents will want her and her eccentricities in their house after the revelations of the last few years.
I think it’s more about the stigma than any literal stench. Though, at a minimum, the place ought to have the carpets replaced (not just cleaned, which is what it looks like) and be repainted so that it feels brand new and free of any trace of the previous inhabitants.
I haven’t been involved in condo renovation projects in a long time, but I don’t believe there’s anything necessarily preventing an owner from gutting the unit down to the shared walls on either side, plus probably one stack of internal walls that is load bearing for the roof (and even that might be reconfigured). I’d want to get a unit like that at about half price, and completely re-do it so that it was unrecognizable and conformed to whatever design trends are currently popular.
We’ll just have to watch and see what the market says. It may sit for a long time as the price is slowly reduced, as is typical with problem properties like this – or once the clock runs out, it will just be auctioned off.
