There has been much debate of late as to whether Allison Mack should be regarded more as a perpetrator or a victim (I suppose that in some sense, every “Master” in DOS probably could be considered a combination of the two).
To help sort this out, we’re going to go back and revisit the testimony of Nicole and Jaye – two of the women that were part of Allison’s slave pod.
We’ll start tonight with Nicole.

To refresh everyone’s memory, here are a few pertinent facts about Nicole:
– She’s 31 years old.
– She grew up in Northern California.
– She’s a middle child – with an older sister and a younger brother.
– She attended summer acting schools throughout the time she was growing up.
– She attended college for one year – and then moved to Hollywood to pursue an acting career.
– She decided to move to New York City in 2015.
– One of her ex-boyfriends, Mark Hildreth, told her about an acting program called “The Source” – and encouraged her to sign up for the 5-week course.
– She did so – and borrowed the money for the tuition from her parents.

The Source & V-Week 2015
Allison Mack was the host for “The Source” classes.
And Keith Raniere AKA Vanguard appeared in all the training videos that were shown throughout the course.
After she completed the program and moved to New York City, Nicole was invited to attend V-Week 2015.
She did so – and ended up sharing a room with Allison and Rebecca (Because there were only two beds in the room, she ended up sleeping with Allison).
One of her primary recollections from V-Week is how often Nancy Salzman referred to as Keith Raniere as “…the smartest man in the world”.
As she described it, that was “…weird because how would you know who the smartest man in the world is? And anyone who says that — it just sounds like bullshit to me”.
The courtroom erupted in laughter.

Part 2 Of “The Source” – And Allison To The Rescue
Allison and Nicole stayed in touch after V-Week 2015 – and Allison convinced her to take Part 2 of the “The Source” in October 2015. Allison even lent her $4,000 to cover the tuition.
Eventually, Nicole became a teacher of classes for “The Source”.
But Nicole was struggling as she tried to adapt to her new life in New York City – and by February 2016, she sent an email to Nicole in which she says that she’s thinking very seriously about committing suicide.
Allison immediately came down to New York City to comfort Nicole – and to encourage her to become a member of DOS.
Allison told her DOS “… did not have anything to do with NXIVM”.
Allison also talked Nicole into providing “collateral” so that she could become a member of DOS.
For her collateral, Nicole handed over several letters that implicated her parents in a series of crimes.
Nicole described her understanding of DOS as follows: “A women’s mentorship where Allison would mentor me in life and that was going to, like, push me into my fears so that I could build the kind of career that I wanted and become the kind of woman that I wanted to be; that it was a secret, I wasn’t supposed to talk about it, but that it was – like, it was a women’s organization that also – that the women were pushing through their fears to be strong and build the life they wanted to build so that they could help people”.
Allison never mentioned to Nicole that Keith Raniere was the ultimate head of DOS.
Had she done so, Nicole said she would never have joined the organization.
Allison gave Nicole her first “assignment” as a DOS slave – which was to stop having sex with Mark Hildreth.
Her next assignment was “…to be celibate for three months” – which she also agreed to do.

Quitting DOS IS Not An Option – And Nicole’s Next Assignment Is Contacting Keith Raniere
Eventually, Nicole decided that DOS was not for her – and she told Allison that she was quitting the group.
Allison immediately told her that “…wasn’t an option”.
She also told Nicole that if she ever left DOS, her collateral would be released.
Allison then gave Nicole her second assignment – which was to contact Keith Raniere and get him to respond to her.
After several futile attempts, Nicole eventually got Raniere to respond.
Raniere’s response is one of his classic word salad/ Chinese fortune cookie/bullshit/deep-thought messages: “True freedom in the physical world comes from absolute commitment to a principal (sic) with no tolerance for excuses or an out, escape. Only then do we find freedom does not depend on being able to do what we want; it depends on not being able to do what we want yet still experiencing self. Love is only measured through pain. Our ability to feel human pain determines the depth and strength of our love”.
[Not surprisingly, Raniere didn’t even know the difference between a “principal” and a “principle” – which, given his 2.26 college GPA, isn’t all that surprising].

So, let’s see what we’ve learned so far about Allison Mack.
She’s an actor who walked away from her career in order to become involved with Keith Raniere and his Rational Inquiry™ training program.
She started a new program to train wannabe actors called “The Source”.
She responded to a potentially suicidal woman by recruiting her to become a member of DOS.
She threatened to release Nicole’s initial collateral when Nicole announced that she wanted to quit DOS.
And she targeted Nicole to be another of Keith Raniere’s sexual conquests.

Many people have said they left NXIVM damaged, even after one day of an intensive, but never give details. How would you say NXIVM affected you?
Also, what do you mean by the “cray”? The pedophile revelations in 2012 or the branding revelations in 2017?
The “cray” means any of it–All of it that was revealed. I didn’t actually know about the pedophile revelations until my partner researched nxivm and told me back in 2017. I’m not sure how I missed it. I’m not going to talk about the damage itself. Not yet. That’s not why I appeared here today. My message is that cults prey on anyone, no matter the ‘personality’ type.
Did you know of any wrongdoing in the cult? Tax evasion, money laundering etc? Rumours? People who were low level have claimed they knew tax evasion was part of the NXIVM teachings and there were even modules encouraging it.
I’d like to hear more from people who have been around the block with NXIVM. When we act like weird squares when they appear, it doesn’t help keep them here.
Mental Damage doesn’t always have ‘details’ as much as it has experiences, which cannot always be described. For some, they were fogged and/or dazed. Others may have had crisis of identity. And this is after only one day. Years of this yeilds much much more damage. Thank goodness for real psychology and therapy.
I had a 3-day interaction with her in Manhattan post her plea of guilty in court. She came in weepy and then flashed a smile. Second day asked me if I needed help with the dishes. The third day, she started off with “Hey girl” she’s a monster!
Where did this occur, and what’s wrong about smiling, helping with the dishes, or greeting you? Why does that make her a monster? Did you ask her what other crimes she committed, besides the ones she plead guilty to? That may have turned off her “monster” behavior.
Yeah, she’s always had a talent for Manic Defences.
The more afraid, lost, sad, or worried she is, the more she smiles.
so he is a monster just for trying to be kind, smiling is normal for anyone, if she uses it as a defense to not fall into a state of depression, anxiety or some other psychological disorder, her mind tries to adapt to the situation but her denial problems get in the way, but your problem is that you want to see her ashamed and scared to fit your image of what she should feel, but that has nothing to do with whether she has those feelings or not just her way of dealing and adapt to her situation, that’s just how fragile she feels about recognizing the truth, I guess that’s why the prosecution didn’t call her a witness.

I used to think this same thing. I am an ex nxivm member. I was in for a few years and left before the cray started, but damaged. Now I am getting a masters degree as a marriage and family therapist and focusing on cult survivors. I used to say “there’s a personality type who gets involved with cults” and knew I was including myself in this statement.
But studies show a different light. The fact is that any one of us may be in a cult as we speak. It’s not about personalities; it’s about transitions. When a person is in some type of transition of any kind, the cults will love bomb and find a way to exploit the persons values and weaknesses. We all have values, we have experience transitions and we all have weaknesses. It’s important to know that no one is impervious to cult membership. You may have the wits to recognize it or you may not.

I have been on a restricted diet for a prolonged amount of time.
I went 4 days without food or water outside in the wilderness near the old naval base North of Jones Port Maine.
Your IQ plummets and throw in sleep deprivation and your mind starts to semi-hallucinate. Raniere tried to break Allison according to Mark Vicente.
I do have sympathy for her and all of the victims.
The law is the law for a reason.

Mack, for instance, could not only have refused to do things that were wrong, but walked away – as did many others, including most of those who got into NXIVM with her.

First of : That is absolutely not a fact…The Reason they choosed to indict her more than India of others is
1. One of the victim was recruited by her
2. She is “famous” ish and prosecutor likes that…A properly prosecuted case with jail time (this case wasn’t properly prosecuted) means a potential BIG promotion…
potential becoming a judge.
3.There is no more evidence against Allison than the other…on the contrary!
4. There is no human trafficking involved for Allison, or she is a victim of it herself.
You see, you play double standard there…She was victim of everything the victim complained about and even more (because she was abused physically, contrary to the Nicole or Jayes or Sylvie)
You willingly ignore that one of the victim of the same abuse say clearly that it was Monica (if i recall properly) that was her “master” and yet, Nothing happened to Monica.
You can’t win this argument either as to win it , you’d have to demonstrate that Allison was not coerced to do it (which she was).

No she couldn’t…If Nicole couldn’t refuse to have sex with Raniere, if she “couldn’t” refuse to get a picture taken, it was due to collateral…
Was Allison Under a collateral? yes she was!
In reality, the collateral was not the only coercion mean on Allison, she was Under the strict diet and sleep deprivation and that is not the case for Nicole who was fit for Raniere.
In a NORMAL trial, this would have been a factor to cancel charges as the impact make the people act like they were Under “forced influence”.
But of course, this is not a normal trial so everyone twist the facts to their own…
Also, you talk about Allison that accept to do the wrong things (when she didn’t had the choice) but willingly forget that in one occasion Nicole WILLINGLY (and admitted it) ask Raniere to have sex with her…
BTW, i also remind that during trial it was said that Allison asked Nicole to meet with Raniere (second assignment) but they didn’t had sex…only after a few encounter they did and Allison was not cited as asking Nicole for those…Nicole was asked direclty
So let’s try to keep the implication of Allison to the realistic level…She was collecting the collaterals, period!
Just like India (who had her case dropped despites the proofs) , just like Lauren, Monica , Jayes and many others!
Even Cami (who was not Following properly her diet) was about to do it…worst yet, with an underaged person!
