In the article Lauren Salzman’s Sensational and Damning Testimony, Frank Report observed, “The prosecution seemed more intent on her describing her life with Raniere.”
What else does Lauren Salzman have to describe? Hers is the testimony of someone who subsumed herself, handed herself over to at least a 20-year sentence in cult hell at age 21, with her ambitiously hideous mother’s full approval and urging. She’s got nothing else to talk about besides her entire, so-called adult life being spent acting as a martyred, starving, busy-working, groupie-guru sucker, desperate for a sadist’s attention and approval.
She devoted herself wholeheartedly to her own misery within the groupie troupe. As if Lauren had no choices, she even agreed that her feelings of (justifiable) unhappiness were to be seen as self-indulgence. She hammered the nails into her own coffin of fear, willing to evaluate herself as full of inferiority and unworthiness. Then she kept worshiping the creep who wanted her to feel inferior and unworthy.
She was one of many women with Raniere who felt this way and yet still kept working for Raniere, doing ménage á trois jobs, pimp jobs, financial scam jobs, as if shell-shocked from their deity and his self-sabotaging version of groupthink, alongside the Vanguard self-blame edicts.
Lauren has given the exact date of the first time she had sex with her “Master.” April 1, 2001 still appears to be a day that goes down in history (herstory) because Lauren began her hallucinatedly monogamous sexual relationship with the slick, smelly sperminator on that day.
Eighteen years later she sits on her backside in court and still gives the impression that she thinks this pathetic sexual exchange was somehow sanctified, sacred. Yet it is memorable only in her delusory, milquetoast mind, nowhere else. She was just been another exploitable hole, guilty pleader and slave plus slave master. Now she boo-hoos as if it’s a soap opera, and she’s just soooo hurt.
Is there a sash for that?
Forget that she has acted criminally and pleaded guilty. She seems to be offering, as the overall theme of her testimony, that it is mostly an unreconciled pity-party for herself. Maybe she is hoping her own perpetrator shit will slip through the cracks of her victimhood.
To paraphrase, “the devil made me do it.”
Lauren looks to be still all tangled up, crying in court about never having had any babies with her Master, after 20 years of Raniere successfully running his number on her and her group of peers. Her comprehension of criminal activity and intent seems buried beneath her ongoing emotional avalanche.
Her remorse doesn’t seem to go much past her own nose, and she has spent at least 20 years with her nose lodged up Raniere’s rathole as one of his primary ass-kissers.
Good for the prosecution for letting the damage speak for itself and as testimony, from the mouth of Lauren Salzman.
Maybe Lauren will let herself get mad as hell at her fallen god when she continues her witness performance on Monday?

Lauren – and I NEVER thought I would defend this woman in any way ever – is the product of Keith. And of her mom. There’s a reason Keith preyed on younger women. That she is almost as narcissistic as the Master is true. She has lived in a world where everyone was told to do nothing but confront themselves/blame themselves/ everything was the Self, inwardly directed, etc, there’s very little empathy for the victims, if any at all because she is a victim herself. I say this knowing how much I detest Lauren and her mother.

It is a difficult issue of what is free choice with cults. Look at those Canadian men charged recently with moving daughters under age across state borders to marry in Utah or whatever under the FLDS – they knew they would lose their wives, children, jobs, money, everything if they did not obey. Not easy choices. Ditto if you leave hassidic communities and Scientology – you have to leave everything behind usually. However unless we do bring cases against people no cult leader or their leading people under them will ever stop so we have to take some stands like this.
All NXIVM women always have the same profile: young, uneducated, troubled, insecure, easy-to-manipulate women, and some of them also with money. The rest is history. Yet, the most horrible of them is, of course, Nancy Salzman for all she put her daughters through.

Lauren’s testimony is guided by the prosecution. Her testimony is based on the questions she is asked by the prosecution.
Lauren also has a plea deal and cannot lie or the plea deal is off.
Lauren is not delivering a monologue in a one woman play……

Shavani’s focused on a facet that IS reflected in Lauren’s testimony but, yes, what’s left out or in of what she may know – which we know is a LOT more – depends on the questions asked or, more significantly, not asked.
If they wanted more information from her, as you say, they would have to ask and she couldn’t lie w/o risk of losing whatever mystery deal is behind door #1.
I’d say she’s already in a gray area as to her Mother not knowing about when she started fucking KAR and her response that the affair was “difficult to hide from her mother” — who’s been publically accused of pimping out her baby girls — gives them both an out…MAYBE…if it’s someday evident Nancy not only knew but forced her to save her virginity for Keith and had her slapping Rogaine on her puss to grow a more fulsome bush for him —metaphorically speaking of course.

It could take Lauren a long time to get out of her indentured servitude, if she even wants to move beyond it. For now she is stuck to the flypaper, still very dependent. One ridiculously obvious example of her trapped quality is who holds the purse strings around her testimony, around her neck and her voice. Lauren is allowed to kvetch, but she is oh-so-reluctant to condemn. I don’t hear the voice of someone who has left her cult when Lauren testifies.
She still uses the present tense when she describes her voluntary captivity, as if Raniere’s narcissistic and sadistic numbskull “philosophy” remains firmly in place as her major influence. If she wanted to overcome this mindset, Lauren would be talking about how she has sought professional counselling to break herself away from the pain, the humiliation and her own immense 20 year mindfuck.
But no. From what can be observed so far, none of Raniere’s codefendants have really turned against him. It is as if Lauren and company are walking through a minefield of their own making instead of having decided to get the hell out of their own way.
It surprised me to find a comment of my speculative observations featured here but I’ve been waiting to learn how the players in the court case interact with one another and what attitudes are being displayed. At times the displayed countenances reveal more than the testimony itself.
Sidenote – ROL has put out a little Nxivm article about how Mack’s wifey is “gallivanting” around various Nxivm places in a white BMW full of female devotees and is making the neighbors nervous.
