Guest View: ‘Believe me, Allison Mack is not a monster’

From MK10ART's painting Allison in Vanguardland.

By A Defender of Allison Mack

In response to Guest View: Allison Mack is not a victim – by her own admission she’s a criminal, I wish to point out to the author, “Actaeon,” that you base your judgment on Allison Mack’s blog written after she started to be groomed by Keith Raniere.

Allison’s blog was, at first, her way to express herself, but became a manifest of the grooming.  Through time, she was visibly changing.  You might not notice this, but people who knew her before she became a member of Nxivm did.

Allison was not at all interested in Nxivm at first. Kristin Kreuk convinced her that it would help her.  Allison wanted to get out after the first meeting (She was then with her boyfriend).

But she was convinced by Kristin Kreuk to continue a bit more. Then something changed.

Even her boyfriend Chad Krowchuck said that she went from a person who was alarmed by Nxivm to a person who was convinced.

She didn’t have the choice about the manipulation. She was groomed too far when she met Keith Raniere.

You also say she was happily victimizing others, but it’s not true. It’s obvious to those who were close to the situation.

When people pointed out to her the evidence against Nxivm, it was already too late.  The worst stories [in the Times Union] came out in 2012 and the grooming was mostly done.   I remind you that most of the cult allegation were made AFTER she was already in it.  She was in Nxivm for quite some time when the Times Union series was published in Feb. 2012.

Another thing, Allison didn’t flee to Mexico. She was in Los Angeles a few days before Raniere’s arrest and she was frequently in NYC before that.

From what I heard, she was called over there a day before the arrest of Raniere.

[Raniere was arrested on March 26, 2018 in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico]

Wouldn’t be surprised if it was some sort of a trap?  Why did Nicole [Nicki Clyne] film the arrest with only Allison in the film?

At her guilty plea hearing, Allison admitted the extortion part. However, she is still a victim of Nxivm! She merely admitted collecting the collateral and “using” it as a mean of pressure (it was redacted by the prosecution, it’s obvious).

The truth is that the victim stated that she didn’t say she would actually use the collateral, but merely “believed” she would. Read the court document for this info.

If you stick by what you read here and there, I understand your position. But believe me, Allison is not the monster depicted by some.

Still, it’s a pleasure to read someone who is not going into a blind rage like Shadow does, so I’m glad to read a well thought out article which is nevertheless opposed to  Allison.  It’s a nice change from Shadow.

Mk10ART – Allison in Vanguardland. Did Keith Raniere groom a sweet Allison Mack into a fool?

“She didn’t have a choice…” This is where I disagree. She was under no compulsion, she had every opportunity to leave. She could have left halfway through the first meeting, after a week, or at any point during the intervening years. She wasn’t forced, blackmailed, or compelled by economic necessity to get involved with NXIVM. She wasn’t a child, she’s not mentally disabled. She acted entirely of her own free will, made a series of extremely bad decisions, and now is paying the price.

Yes, she was manipulated. But she allowed herself to be manipulated. She was a fool. And she has no real excuse: she was financially well off, she had an enviable career. I can have more sympathy for somebody who takes to crime because they have no options in life. Or some 15 year old kid who goes joyriding with his friends in a stolen car because they talk him into it. Mack had no such excuse; she was leading a life of privilege when she decided to join NXIVM. And NXIVM was clearly a scam, anyone with a lick of sense would know that straight off the bat.

Yes, Kreuk introduced her to it (may she rot in Hell). But I wonder: why, when she was talking up NXIVM on the Smallville set, why was Mack the only one enough of a fool to get involved with it? Why not Rosenbaum or Welling or Freedman or Durance? Why were none of them groomed, brainwashed, hypnotized? My speculative answer is that Mack was perhaps naive, weak-willed, and ambitious. She’d have had to be naive to fall for the spiel, to be suckered by a boastful charlatan like Raniere. To fall for the tired pop-psychology motivational speaker sales pitch. To not realize they were smooth-talking her to rip her off. Weak-willed to not just say no. WTF is so hard about saying no? No, I’m not buying and no, I don’t have to give you a reason why. Simple.

Ambitious. Aye, there’s the rub. That’s something I picked up on from her blog. Mack wanted to make a difference. Make an impact on the world. Do good, help women. Admirable, but there’s a dark shadow there. She was not satisfied being an actress. What, that’s it, that’s my life’s work, 10 years of playing Chloe on TV? And what do I do now, get a job selling Toyotas in Long Beach?

My guess is she thought NXIVM would help her make that big impact. Find herself and help her change the world. She talked about that a lot. So I think she wanted to believe in Raniere. This is how Ponzi schemes and confidence rackets work, the suckers want it to be true, so they fool themselves. Because they’re greedy.

It was entirely her choice. And by God did she get burned. She was warned, I know for a fact that people in the comments section of her blog warned her. I was one of them. Somebody put up a link to a YouTube video showing Raniere boasting about having people killed. She had friends and family, some of them must’ve warned her. But she chose to stick with Raniere. Up to and including the blackmailing and branding of women. Convincing women to join her Sorority of Obedient Sisters. Because she’s a feminist committed to helping women.

It’s a sad story, and I do have sympathy for Allison Mack. She ruined a promising life. She was a competent professional actress, she had talent, her intellectual curiosity was admirable and I believe she genuinely wanted to do good. But she ruined her own life, and others’; she did that, of her own free will. She lacked the strength of character to avoid temptation and ended up a criminal. Ultimately, she has nobody to blame but herself. May she return from prison in a few years sadder but wiser.

I advice you to check your source (if you have any)…She didn’t flee, that is a fact.
I didn’t say she didn’t knew she was going to mexico, i said, SHE DIDN’T FLEE.

Raniere did, but she was still on the american territory up until the arrest.

I’m not the only person who know she wasn’t in Mexico for a long time when they arrested Raniere.
In an interview, one of her friend even said that she was with her in Beverly hills a days or so before the arrest.

Perhaps Allison did not state it explicitly, but she didn’t need to. What other purpose does collecting collateral have, except to use it as blackmail material to control and extort?

This was an answer to those who said that she tortured physically and psychologically the victims…out of context, sure it sound silly but keep it in the context and you’ll understand that i’m not defending the blackmail but explain that she just blackmail without violence.
I was sticking with the fact while other were trying to make her a monster.

The Guest View opinion piece is too simplistic. Allison Mack may not have begun her journey with NXIUM as a monster, but she became one. High functioning sociopaths such as Kieth Raniere are master manipulators. I do believe Allison Mack and others fell prey to pleasing him above all else. It doesn’t excuse their actions or make them less accountable, but it may explain their reasoning.

No, the people who believe she is a monster have a simplistic view…the people who knew her are knowing the facts.

I’m not going to go for specifics (first because it’s useless over here, seeing the hate toward Allison, it’s gonna be twisted…again)
Second because i don’t know all the details.

But the fact is at first, before Nxivm , She was nothing like what is said nowaday.
She is still not a monster unless you Believe the hearsay that Shadow tell over here or you refuse to see that the whole branding thing wasn’t her idea nor her doing.
She didn’t do worse than most of the other who got away free.

She was collecting blackmail, that’s a fact. But the rest, there is no proof.
And I remind that she was mentally abused for years and Under a collateral herself.

Low diet, sleep deprivation, tons of EM (exploration of meanings)…Even India who was for less longer was badly damaged.

I’m gonna add a little thing that was twisted but in cat oxenberg’s book, she talked about a night were Allison got a night terror…
This is something that happens to people who suffered a serious Trauma (PTSD , Rape, etc…)
This is something that she wasn’t subject before Nxivm. This is what happens when people mess (litterally) with someone’s mind

Anonyme, night terrors are not necessarily related to PTSD. Classically, children get them – if you do a google search on the topic, that’s the first thing that comes up – while Wikipedia lists multiple possible physiological and psychological causes for them in adults.* You extrapolate way too much like that, in your attempts to rationalize your story about Mack.

And how do you know that she “she wasn’t subject [to them] before Nxivm” unless you’re very close to her personally? Your story about her is also based on pretending that you have all sorts of intimate knowledge of her like that, that you apparently actually have no way of having, particularly since you don’t seem to have any real, accurate insight into other details of Mack’s life.

* “In children with night terrors, there is no increased occurrence of psychiatric diagnoses.[9] However, in adults who suffer from night terrors there is a close association with psychopathology or mental disorders. There may be an increased occurrence of night terrors—particularly among those suffering or having suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). It is also likely that some personality disorders may occur in individuals with night terrors, such as dependent, schizoid, and borderline personality disorders.[9] There have been some symptoms of depression and anxiety that have increased in individuals that have suffered from frequent night terrors. Low blood sugar is associated with both pediatric and adult night terrors.[2][10] A study of adults with thalamic lesions of the brain and brainstem have been occasionally associated with night terrors.[11] Night terrors are closely linked to sleepwalking and frontal lobe epilepsy.[12]”

Except she wasn’t a child and she didn’t suffer those before Nxivm…read the WHOLE text!

And how do YOU know she was…you know nothing about her yet you keep judging based on your sick assumptions.

You Don’t need to know how i know that, just that i know and do whatever you want with it…Believe, Don’t Believe.

I’m not losing my sleep over your opinion, i try to open the mind of intelligent people about the facts.
While you try to drown them in your lies.

How do you know Mack didn’t suffer night terrors before NXIVM?

If you look at the reference, there are plenty of causes for adults to start suffering them, PTSD being just one among many including dependent personality disorder.

And yes, we need to know how you know about such things – if it’s because of something such as that you think you have a psychic connection with her, and she sends you secret messages, then intelligent people kind of need to know that to evaluate the profundity of your claims.

And how do you know she did? You just show your obsession!
You have no proof of any allégations and once again twist everything to fit your agenda.

I know what i know and how i know it is none of you business…

You are right, except vast majority of those reason are trauma…AGAINST the victim of those crisis.
You are just looking to find a prove that she was a psychopath and refuse the truth (once again).

So since you can’t win on this argument you come with a “how do you know”…And how can you be so sure she was suffering for this? (i know the real answer but YOU, where is your answer coming from…except from you mind or your ass?)

And I should have explained to you that you are not amongst the “intelligent” people so once again i couldn’t care less what you believe…

“You might read my recent article about Nicki Clyne where I discuss Nicki’s cooperation in catching Allison Pimp Mack.
Shadow: Is Nicki Clyne very dumb or very devious?”
No , i’m not a fan of fiction…I’m more interested by the facts
Also ,you spend WAY too much time to concentrate on a lower player of the case (due to your obsession) instead of looking at the other.

Why would i read an article that you, an extremely biased person , would write?
So i could read about you Sherlock’s assumptions? Stick with the fact and then i’ll consider your position.

Once again, there isn’t anything that proves she is a pimp but your fantasy (and Frank’s fantasy)…keep that for yourself, no one want to hear about this.

On another note, this MK10 art piece with “Scientology” behind the scenes of NXIVM is an interesting concept.

Some facts like the Lopez-Burke-Salinas Scientology connection Jeff Peterson speaks of, the duplication of Scientology teachings, methods and, IMO, their Navy Org resources (at Bronfman’s direction) to harass NX “suppressives,” underscore the veracity of this depiction.

Heidi: Navy Org, I love it, LOL! It’s actually called the Sea Org, but your name is even more descriptive and accurate of what it is. It was Hubbard’s fake Navy, with all the jargon and ranks. Including cool uniforms with all the lanyards.

At some point they abandoned the uniforms because locals found it creepy. But here is a picture from the good old days:

Again, I agree with this more balanced, less biased view of Allison’s “role” in NXIVM.

It would be a fate worse than prison for her — not to mention potential, future victims — IMO, however, if she or any of the slave/masters are suckered back into NX (or NX by any other name) due to Clare Bronfman’s buy-out, which may set the punishment bar artificially lower than it would be for those who don’t have millions on hand to pay down their sentence as Clare Bronfman — the 6 million dollar crook — has done.

Very frustrating there’s no reform alternative but prison for these victim/perps like Allie who were so obviously made an, initially, unwitting player in this Raniere/Salzman/Bronfman Ponzi sex scheme.

How do you “know” other than what might have been picked up from obsessively following Mack’s fan blogs, and the interviews her co-stars gave to the media? And maybe throw in what was said live at a couple of fan cons?

If you really do know anything, then I’d like to hear the insider scoop on Allison’s long-term boyfriend and fiancee Pete, as according to a respondent here:

“Back in the late 90s, Allison dated (and was later engaged to) some guy who was in this failed rock band. Drug addict and very manipulative/abusive. Everyone tried to get her to see the light and break up with him. They eventually got engaged (he tattooed “will you marry me?” across his chest) but later broke it off.”

* Did Pete, like his registered pedophile sex offender father, have a thing for underage women?

* Allison would have turned 17 in 1999, and Pete apparently would have been over 20. When did Allison start dating him – was it at 16, or 15?

* Did she ever show up, like on set, with black eyes or bruises?

* Did she get into rough sex or even BDSM with him?

* Where exactly did she get the “P” tattooed that is near her heart, but not visible in photographs?

* When, after the announcement of the engagement on her blog in 2003, and her statement in an interview that “My fiance is a musician and he’s totally funky. He had Will you marry me?’ tattooed on his chest.” did they break up?

* Did her later relationships have any signs of the same patterns – beyond what boyfriends may have said in on-the-record interviews?

I asks because it goes to several things. Mack wasn’t the innocent girl-next-door that she played on Smallville, and that people fell in love with. Having been in a long-term manipulative and abusive relationship when young, she should have known better when she was older than to get in to the same thing with Raniere. And there seems a dark undercurrent of at least age inappropriate and dangerous sex in her life, with what she got in to with Raniere and the NXIVM inner circle being a step too far at most, not a huge departure.

It seems to me, that we don’t really know for certain, except that there are some real questions about Mack’s background and proclivities, and that it’s mostly likely messy if not actually ugly. Hopefully at some point good sources will shed some real light, so that we can better understand.

1) “Sultan” is probably of northern Pakistan origin where they are more light skinned, or he is some kind of Persian/Arab, so not white.

2) Barbara Bouchey stated on the Frank Report she played a role in getting Kristin Kreuk, Grace Park and others involved. Didn’t Mark “Cuck” Hildreth recruit Kreuk?

3) If Allison Mack was love bombed from the start, what about Kreuk? According to a Rick Ross article from 2006, Kreuk had her first “intensives” in Albany.

Heres another coincidence I came across- Stone likes to use the alias Jason Rainier. Jason is his middle name, but that last name is strangely similar to Keith’s name.

Here’s a little irony. Description of the character Allison played in the web series Riese – MARLISE

“Currently stationed in Asgard, Marlise is an ambitious member of The Sect. She is agressively moving up the religious group’s militant tiers.

Appearing sympathetic and innocenct, what lurks beneath her mask is a sadistic and manipulative mind. Despite the repercussions her ambition may have for those around her, Marlise thirsts for power and has the tenacity and mercilessness to obtain it.

She is aware that the power she wields over her competition is in knowing their secrets, not necessarily revealing them.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter:
“Dones says that Lauren Salzman attached herself to Mack that weekend, eating meals with her. “By the end of the weekend, Lauren and Allison were like best friends,” she says. When the seminar concluded, Mack accepted an invitation to fly on the Bronfmans’ private jet back to Albany, New York, to meet Raniere in the flesh. They told her Raniere could help her with her acting career. This was a rare development, even for a VIP; most high-profile initiates had to complete at least one 16-day “intensive” at a cost of $7,500 before being granted an in-person meeting with Vanguard. A couple of weeks later, when Dones traveled to Nxivm’s corporate offices and training facility in Colonie, north of Albany, she was surprised to see Mack still there.”

“It was really Bouchey that put her under her spell,” says Mack’s former roommate. “I heard three years of how wonderful Barbara Bouchey was and how she was so great with business. Allison had such a desire to be a strong businesswoman and have a mentor.”

This is a wonderful art piece. It seems Raniere and the author of Alice in wonderland Lewis Carroll both liked playing and taking pictures of naked little girls.

About the Author

Frank Parlato is an investigative journalist.

His work has been cited in hundreds of news outlets, like The New York Times, The Daily Mail, VICE News, CBS News, Fox News, New York Post, New York Daily News, Oxygen, Rolling Stone, People Magazine, The Sun, The Times of London, CBS Inside Edition, among many others in all five continents.

His work to expose and take down NXIVM is featured in books like “Captive” by Catherine Oxenberg, “Scarred” by Sarah Edmonson, “The Program” by Toni Natalie, and “NXIVM. La Secta Que Sedujo al Poder en México” by Juan Alberto Vasquez.

Parlato has been prominently featured on HBO’s docuseries “The Vow” and was the lead investigator and coordinating producer for Investigation Discovery’s “The Lost Women of NXIVM.” Parlato was also credited in the Starz docuseries "Seduced" for saving 'slave' women from being branded and escaping the sex-slave cult known as DOS.

Additionally, Parlato’s coverage of the group OneTaste, starting in 2018, helped spark an FBI investigation, which led to indictments of two of its leaders in 2023.

Parlato appeared on the Nancy Grace Show, Beyond the Headlines with Gretchen Carlson, Dr. Oz, American Greed, Dateline NBC, and NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt, where Parlato conducted the first-ever interview with Keith Raniere after his arrest. This was ironic, as many credit Parlato as one of the primary architects of his arrest and the cratering of the cult he founded.

Parlato is a consulting producer and appears in TNT's The Heiress and the Sex Cult, which premiered on May 22, 2022. Most recently, he consulted and appeared on Tubi's "Branded and Brainwashed: Inside NXIVM," which aired January, 2023.
