Princess Elizabeth, daughter in NYC in bid to rescue grandkid from alleged sex cult
Princess Elizabeth of Yugoslavia and her daughter Catherine Oxenberg are in New York in a last-ditch attempt to rescue Catherine’s daughter, India, from the Nxivm “sex-slave” cult.
[Frank Report Note: ‘Last ditch’ because India is likely to be arrested as co-conspirator #2 in an indictment soon to be unsealed by the Eastern District NY against Raniere et al.]
India, 26, has moved from the Albany area, where Nxivm was headquartered, to Brooklyn — where cult leader Keith Raniere languishes in federal lockup.
She is working at Plantmade, a vegetarian and vegan restaurant in the East Village.

The restaurant’s manager said he did not know who India was when he hired her two months ago.
India still refuses to talk to her mother, who flew in from California, but has spoken to her grandmother, who came from Serbia, to talk some sense into India.

“India remains loyal to Raniere, and has vowed to go to prison to protect him,” Frank Parlato, a former publicist for Nxivm, told me. “She thinks she’s doing noble things. She told someone, ‘I will be like Nelson Mandela.’ ”

[Frank Report Note: Catherine’s every move has been a bittersweet one. On the one hand, she has rescued untold 100s of women and girls from the monster Raniere, and, on the other hand, her own daughter is so feckless that she cannot see who really loves and cares about her. The book Catherine is writing will undoubtedly help many other women and families of women in dangerous cults but suppose it does not save her own daughter?
Someday I hope tiny brained India will wake up and see that no good comes out of making so many victims as Raniere has done. If he was so good, why is there a long trail of victims. John Oliver, The Daily Show, Bill Maher and VICE need to do a televised story about this. Bring the public’s attention as a whole down on NXIVM. At best, you have Frank and a bunch of Q-Anon conspiracy theorists trying to connect it all to Hillary Clinton and George Soros ’cause that’s more important than the systematic abuse of human beings.
Frank Parlato’s very well-intended. And he’s been fighting the good fight with Keith Raniere for years and years. I hope he has a good manager and agent to make sure he receives some profit from the great profit that will be made from covering and telling this story.

I agree Frank is well-intended and not the problem. My point was if you go out on YouTube or Google, all you find is either gossip sites or far right nut job’s trying to hijack the narrative for their own entertainment.

I had no idea about Maher and Oliver being EPs on Vice, that’s fascinating. Elle Reeve’s VICE documentary on Charlottesville was spectacular. When I saw it, I remember wondering if VICE was growing into something awesome, and if independent platforms were the investigative way of the future.

This is what is called a false equivalence. Because India wrongly believes that she will be sacrificing herself by taking the place of bRAINwashIERE in jail — who she has equated with “nobility” through nothing more than an emotionally suggested Pavlovian response – she is doing an equivalent thing as Nelson Mandela did for his people. “I’m a slave; Mandela was a slave; therefore, we’re equal”. Mandela was jailed for fighting apartheid and for the equal rights for his people, a truly noble cause since racism is rooted in nothing but ignorance. bRAINwashIERE cares nothing about nobility as everyone who isn’t a selfish prick knows the definition of that term. His word salad definition of “nobility” is that which serves himself.

The Oxenberg piece is the saddest part. Has multigenerational family that cares and is proactive in helping her AFTER she’s screwed up so bad. Keep pushing Catherine, this could be anyone’s daughter.

Wits have nothing to do with being susceptible to cult influences. People with PHDs that intentionally attended cult events to gather ammo to talk others out have ended up needing interventions to get them out themselves.
Maintaining one’s own critical thinking and value assessments in the face of criticism is a pretty important element of wit.

It’s not just criticism. Indoctrination isn’t a blunt instrument. The courses might use it to some extent but that would hardly be the only method. Like I said, highly intelligent people still fall into cults. These groups are built around doing this to people; it’s not some con man trying to sell you a bridge in Brooklyn. It’s an institution of people dedicated to identifying people who might be receptive, finding their weak spot, and drawing them in deep enough that the next reveal doesn’t scare them off and then repeating that until… well, this happens. It takes exceptional people to pull away without help; being average isn’t enough to be immune to their tricks.
I don’t know. When someone wants leverage like nude photos I’m out of there. Because they’re trying to gain power over me, and will blackmail me if they have to, showing that they’re not the enlightened people they pretend to be. It really depends on the cult.
Unfortunately “showing her what a brat she is” is likely to make the job of her family all the harder if India hears of it. That kind of thing makes people, especially people manipulated by the likes of Raniere, defensive. Everything I’ve read before and since says that interventions need to be free of judgment or blame and simply state facts about cults, facts about their group, and restart independent thought. If all three are achieved then the person should hopefully see the paralels. Sadly, in the internet age, people, especially people on sites such as this one that many Espians probably check, every one of us random passersby become part of the intervention. Calling people fools is doing the opposite of helping the victims or the law; it only strengthens the blind faith and herd instincts forced into the members heads.
Yeah, avoid the truth at all costs lest we offend, and I’ll have the house dressing on the word salad.

It’s not about avoiding the truth or not offending anyone; it’s about not being a road block to anyone redeeming themselves by turning away from Keith and his BS. Also, word salad? Where?
Yes, he needs to go away, hopefully permanently. And, hopefully, we can extradite him back to Mexico to serve his time there since I hear their prisons are much less comfortable stays.
Stopping anyone else from being a victim is important, but it’s just as important that the ones that have already been preyed on get help. Confrontation discourages them from accepting help, from accepting the truth.

India is not smart enough to be able to look to any future that doesn’t include Keith. For her, it is him, the rest – NXIVM etalia – doesn’t exist, which is essentially true; but she literally views Keith as a Christ-like figure for whom her possibly going to prison on his behalf is something she considers a noble martyrdom.

I have felt this way the whole time. Catherine is doing the celeb thing. She needs to be using her celebrity to organize awareness groups but instead, sadly, she’s shilling paper for paper…
Between the time commitment (book in Aug? means no sleeping until then, except she has a daughter that needs f/t rescuing focus!) and profit angle (can she wait to profit off her daughter’s misfortune, one she herself brought into India’s life, after India is out and safe??), simply feels wrong.
Like Sara Bronfman, Catherine Oxenberg was quite a party girl. Old friend said he remembered tabloid stories of her and alcohol and cocaine. That friend wondered if India (born June 1991) might have mild fetal alcohol syndrome.
Strangest public story regarding Catherine is her short-lived 1998 marriage to Robert Evans. She was 36, he was 68. Some background on Evans from Joe Eszterhas’s book titled “Hollywood Animal”:
“The problem was a girl in a dog collar. According to Sharon [Stone, then acting in Sliver, released 1993, produced by Evans who she forbade from being on set], a friend of hers from her modeling days wound up as one of Bob’s house bimbos. According to Sharon, Bob supposedly kept the young woman naked and in a dog collar for weeks at a time. Sharon said that her friend needed psychiatric care for months after leaving the Evans house.”
Regarding the wedding itself (first passage is from “The Curious World of Drugs” by Ingo Niermann, published 2008, the second 2-paragraph passage is from slate.com):
“In 1998 he married former Dynasty actress Catherine Oxenberg. The wedding video shows him noticeably weakened by medications and a stroke. In the video, the bride hands him a silver bowl with the “Body of Christ”: hallucinogenic mushrooms and peyote buds. Seven days later, the marriage was annulled.”
“The Star says the marriage, his fifth, lasted a week. The romance began when Evans told her he had a vision of an angel who looked just like her during his stroke-induced near-death experience. She agreed to marry him out of sympathy, says the publication, believing he wouldn’t live more than six months. He must have been disconcertingly robust on their honeymoon, because during it, she told him she was returning to her former and possibly future fiance.
According to the National Enquirer, the marriage endured for 10 whole days before Oxenberg returned home to her boyfriend. In its version, Oxenberg had recently been at a spiritual retreat in which she was told to help others. When she met Evans at a party and he told her about his stroke, she “thought this was a sign”-a sign, apparently, to behave as if she had had a stroke. The publication quotes her telling a friend, “Bob told me he couldn’t have sex since his stroke, I figured, what the hell-I’ll marry him because I desperately want to help him.” Unfortunately for their marriage, she was too effective a helper. As she napped one day, he came in the room, reports the Enquirer, “stark naked–and it was obvious he was quite capable of consummating the marriage.” Oxenberg behaved as would any young bride: She “jumped out of bed and said, ‘I’m not you’re wife anymore. I’m leaving you and never coming back.’ ” On the other hand, perhaps this is a custom of what must be the ever-dwindling band of Yugoslav royals.”
One thing to keep in mind, Catherine was a student at Harvard during which time she started acting. Her daughter never had the opportunity for college. I wish Catherine had worked to get India to college in 2011 rather than to some cult workshop by Keith Raniere!
India was at Bay State University but she wanted to leave to become an actress so…
