NYS Attorney General probes Clare Bronfman’s Ethical Science Foundation

Brandon Porter

The Albany Times Union reports that the New York State Attorney General’s office is actively investigating the Ethical Science Foundation, a nonprofit founded by Clare and Sara Bronfman.

State investigators are looking into illegal human experiments sponsored by Bronfman money and performed by Dr. Brandon Porter.

Dr. Porter conducted brain-activity and other human behavioral studies  on various women without their consent and without having an Institutional Review Board (IRB) in place to oversee his “research”.

A state Supreme Court justice signed an order directing Bronfman and Porter to turn over all documentation associated with the research, including written communications, videos, conclusions, consent forms, and names and addresses of individuals associated with Ethical Science Foundation, as well as financial records, budgets, bank account numbers, and names and addresses of board members, trustees or employees.

It was reported that Catherine Oxenberg met with the attorney general’s office in November to bring information and evidence about alleged criminal activities of NXIVM.

Several women told Frank Report they were victims of human experiments conducted by Dr. Porter – who, among other things, may be in danger of losing his medical license.

This news comes on the heels of news of a separate investigation of NXIVM by the U.S. Attorney’s office in Brooklyn.

Several women associated with NXIVM and Keith Raniere have confirmed they’ve been interviewed in recent weeks by federal law enforcement officials. Reportedly, a grand jury is seated and indictments of Raniere, Nancy Salzman, Lauren Salzman, Rosa Laura Junco, Emiliano Salinas, Clare Bronfman, Allison Mack, Alex Betancourt, Karen Unterreiner, Dr. Danielle Roberts and others may be forthcoming.

Raniere and Bronfman fled the USA and were last spotted near Monterrey Mexico.

The federal probe is said to include an investigation into whether human trafficking occurred.

Dr. Porter resigned from St. Peter’s Hospital last year when his involvement with the brain studies became public.

In the attorney general’s court filings seeking their subpoena of records wrote:“ESF has funded the research of Dr. Brandon Porter, a physician who has conducted human subject research under the auspices of ESF without oversight by an Institutional Review Board (IRB) or human research committee in violation of Public Health Law. The failure to comply with human subject protections required by law is a gross violation of public policy.”

The NYS AG is one of the sickest, crookedest human beings alive. You don’t have to believe me — just pay attention. And if you look to Schneiderman expecting justice, you’re going to be sorely disappointed.

Still can’t believe there aren’t a million plaintiff attorneys all over getting a slice of the Bronfman money.

I love the fact that the photo of Clare showed her entering the U.S. Federal Courthouse back in 2011. Wonder when she’ll be back there again – and whether Paul DerOhannesian will be by her side.

I love reading your insights, always grateful when you comment. So much has been revealed about the cult since 2011. A focus of Paul DerOhannesian’s career is his advocating for maltreated children and family and speaking out about abusers in positions of authority. It strikes me that getting involved with this cult again could be detrimental to the rest of his practice. I’m curious to see what happens.

I have been scooped!! Property has been listed since 03/15/18 !! Listing agent is once again Armida Rosa Realty thru Espian Franca Dicrescenzo. $1425.00 is actually not bad for a carriage home in Knox Woods. My friend pays over $1100 for a smaller 2 bedroom condo, However, you would be lining Clare’s pockets with what may turn out to be much needed income. Also, unless, it has been converted to natural gas, the condos and townhomes in Knox Woods are energy suckers, so expect a high utility bill.

This property is on the balance sheet I previously linked up.

I suggest anyone who moves in perform a sage smudge immediately to dispel any lingering bad energy.

Your scoops are the sweet icing on the FrankReport cake!!! I’m grateful for all the great work you and Lana do, and I suspect we all feel that way. My pre-scoop was inadvertent, came across the rental information when I started digging into the school, curious about the space where so much bad stuff happened.

Laura has been in the field, the NXIVM story continues to generate interest as the Clare Bronfman/Raniere/Salzman enterprise crumbles. We count our lucky stars every night that we are outsiders. Can you imagine the twin studies that the Keith, Nancy and the Mad Scientist Dr Porter might have wished to conduct a la Josef Mengele?

Just in case the NY AG is reading the blog and in case you all missed this: Be sure to check out the production of My Tourette’s (2016) also believed to have been funded by the Ethical Science Foundation. – http://www.imdb.com/title/tt6096256/fullcredits?ref_=tt_ql_1

Thsnk you for all your work, Lana!

Unethical Quack Science Foundation would be more accurate. From the Times Union, written by Brendan J. Lyons and published on Oct. 21, 2017:

Based on the information he [Dr. Arthur L. Caplan, head of the Division of Medical Ethics at New York University School of Medicine] has gleaned from the press reports, he said there may be questions for the state Health Department or other agencies that regulate doctors about whether the research was done according to accepted scientific standards.

“To me there’s nothing about this that bears any resemblance to real scientific research other than calling it that, but that doesn’t make it so,” Caplan said.

“When you set up a foundation and sponsor research you want to make sure that you are being responsible because the taxpayers are giving you a tax break for this foundation. So you want to make sure your work is peer reviewed and not just funding some fringe, bizarre, marginal interest that a doctor or scientist might want to indulge.”

What the actual eff? Do they think calling a study makes it a study? I thought we were dealing with a guy with a high IQ. I cannot believe the extent this goes. Human experimentation. Being wired up? Were they doing shock treatments? Are these people ok? Anybody know how they are now after this torture? Did they cure Tourette’s? What else does the Science Organization do?

So the so-called Ethical Science Foundation is neither science nor ethical. And Keith Raniere continues to destroy the livelihoods and/or trust funds of his cultists. Life as usual for Keith. But not for much longer.

Great news that “…indictments of Raniere, Nancy Salzman, Lauren Salzman, Rosa Laura Junco, Emiliano Salinas, Clare Bronfman, Allison Mack, Alex Betancourt, Karen Unterreiner, Dr. Danielle Roberts and others may be forthcoming.”

Rajneesh was smarter and more successful than Raniere. And it still all came crashing down. Just like it will for Raniere.

I am watching it now and can’t help but laugh at the similarities between both cults. Except Rajneesh was WAY more successful. Keith has never been able to get ANY project off the ground. Everything he touches eventually fails. Especially the community he tried to build. He is such a big fat failure. I hope Lauren is watching this series. All she does is suffer at home with her cats and watch Netflix anyway.

The only thing VanDouche appears to be successful at is using and scamming people for a while to gain their sex, control, and money.

But who cares really if he was successful at these things? You see two people driving the same $1 million Bugatti on the street. One is a drug king pin who has manipulated, stolen and killed people to gain the money to purchase it. The other was a poor boy raised in the projects who worked hard in school to get a fashion degree from some fashion school and a business degree from Harvard and built a successful multi-million dollar clothing business over several decades.

Who do you think is more successful?

Unless the drug king pin or fashion empire Harvard grad promised to nobly enlighten their followers, and with subsequent success of every kind assured to follow, the comparison is not as useful as it might be.

One measure the charlatans can be compared on is books published. Keith’s name is on 1 or 2 that Ivy Nevares actually wrote, long out of print, who knows if any copies were actually purchased. Rajneesh was prolific, and his books are still in print with healthy sales around the world. Two huge douches, but only one left a legacy where the good bits (you need some good bits to reel in followers) remain meaningful to people. Keith put all his bloated thoughts behind a paywall, with NDAs. No legacy to leave behind, which is great news for humanity.

About the Author

Frank Parlato is an investigative journalist.

His work has been cited in hundreds of news outlets, like The New York Times, The Daily Mail, VICE News, CBS News, Fox News, New York Post, New York Daily News, Oxygen, Rolling Stone, People Magazine, The Sun, The Times of London, CBS Inside Edition, among many others in all five continents.

His work to expose and take down NXIVM is featured in books like “Captive” by Catherine Oxenberg, “Scarred” by Sarah Edmonson, “The Program” by Toni Natalie, and “NXIVM. La Secta Que Sedujo al Poder en México” by Juan Alberto Vasquez.

Parlato has been prominently featured on HBO’s docuseries “The Vow” and was the lead investigator and coordinating producer for Investigation Discovery’s “The Lost Women of NXIVM.” Parlato was also credited in the Starz docuseries "Seduced" for saving 'slave' women from being branded and escaping the sex-slave cult known as DOS.

Additionally, Parlato’s coverage of the group OneTaste, starting in 2018, helped spark an FBI investigation, which led to indictments of two of its leaders in 2023.

Parlato appeared on the Nancy Grace Show, Beyond the Headlines with Gretchen Carlson, Dr. Oz, American Greed, Dateline NBC, and NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt, where Parlato conducted the first-ever interview with Keith Raniere after his arrest. This was ironic, as many credit Parlato as one of the primary architects of his arrest and the cratering of the cult he founded.

Parlato is a consulting producer and appears in TNT's The Heiress and the Sex Cult, which premiered on May 22, 2022. Most recently, he consulted and appeared on Tubi's "Branded and Brainwashed: Inside NXIVM," which aired January, 2023.
